Nagito Komaeda - Through Hope and Despair

Hello you poor, foolish yet unfortunate souls! It feels like it's been a while since I updated this book - probably because it has XD - but finally I'm back with a new chapter!

This was requested by bwilieve but lets be honest, I'm sure most of you have been waiting for this one ;)

ALSO WARNING THIS HAS ISLAND MODE SPOILERS! DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED OR SEEN A PLAYTHROUGH YET!

Now without further ado lets start this despair inducing chapter upupupupuupupu!

I wasn't surprised. I wasn't shocked.

I was disappointed.

Ever since Nagito had shown his true self in the first trial I had expected this. Or something like it anyway. . . . .

Nagito was a murderer. He had killed one of our classmates. . . .one of our friends. . . . .and all I could do was stand on the spot and stare at Nagito as he laughed maniacally. . . .but for some reason I had a feeling that part of Nagito's craziness was an act. . . . 

"AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAHHAHAH!" His laughter echoed throughout the room and slowly died into a quiet snicker.

"That's right! I'm the killer!" He grinned with pleasure as everyone stared at him with hatred and alarm. However that wasn't many people as only 5 of us were left excluding Nagito himself.

"Finally the symbols of hope have gathered their strength and are eliminating the final despair standing in their way!" His crazed eyes widened further as he yelled "I congratulate you all!" 

Amidst the shouting, the laughter, the shocked faces and more I left my spot and walked up to Nagito.

"What's wrong Y/N?" He asked "Want to ask me some silly question like 'why did you do it'?" 

"I already know what you'd say to something like that Nagito. . . " I mumbled.

The smile on his face disappeared and was replaced with a hurt and confused expression. 

"Why? Why do you look so sad Y/N? Why are you despairing. . .?" He started at a whisper but gradually he raised his voice. . . . .

"WHY!? YOU SHOULD BE FILLED WITH HOPE!  LIKE YOU ALWAYS ARE!" His shriek surprised me so much that I stumbled backwards onto the floor. It was all so sudden. . . . .

"Nagito. . . ?"

"Y/N! . . . . You know why I did this. . . . .right? So why are you looking at me with all that disappointment?" He started to calm down dramatically but as I looked at his clenched hands I realised he was still in pain. 

"Nagito? What's wrong? Why are you acting like this?" I looked into Nagito's eyes searching for an answer, but whatever that was it was hidden in the crude mix of hope and despair. . . .a crude mix that nonetheless captivated me as it always did.

"Y/N. . . .I-I just want to create hope. . . .that's all I want. . . .

"Before I disappear. . ." 

He whispered the last part so quietly I was sure I must have misheard him. . . . I must have. . . .what did he mean by disappear?

"Nagito. . .? Why would you disappear?" I felt a kind of terror rise in my voice . . . .and I found myself lost in thought. . . . .

I knew what Nagito had done. I knew what he was like and what kind of person he was. . . . .I'd always told myself that he was a bad person I shouldn't involve myself with but. . . .he caught my attention so easily. He had a certain kindness about him even if it was odd. His smile when he talked with all of us normally. I just couldn't stay away from him and now. . . . . The idea of losing Nagito. The idea of him disappearing from my life and never coming back. . . . .
