So I updated my title XD obviously but this reminds me of like Edward and Jacob although I never liked Twighlight. But yap so *flails arms*

When I got to lunch the whole room was talking and out of the corner of my eyes I could see Tracey staring at my coldly. I shrugged it off. It's been a while since I've been here at school like this is my 3rd day. I had my tray and shuffled to the table where my friends were at and sat down next to Britt. They were serving BUFFALO WINGS AND YOU GUYS KNOW MY OBSESSION OVER BUFFALO WINGS.
"Everyone is talking about how Duncan supposedly cheated on Tracey and is gonna go out with you." She said when I set my tray down.
I rolled my eyes, "This is so stupid. Like we think we are matured adults but we're just kids still, just bigger and somewhat mature." I muttered.
Gigi clapped her hands together and held them up, "Preach!"
I heard a tray hit the table followed by millions of swearing.
"Aren't you suppose to be in the hostpital still?" Riley asked.
"I got discharged early." He muttered.
I pulled off my mask and set it on the table. I was releived to have cool air on the bottom half of my face for once.
"This is stupid." Duncan muttered.
"I know, she specifically targets me..." I said with a sigh.
"That's what's messed up. Honestly, all she only cares about attention. And her social standard, and how people see it. She thinks the hot guy belongs to the popular girl, but what if hot guy liked a different girl?!" He said angrily.
I blushed, I somewhat felt like he was talking about me.
"Ooooh," Riley sang, "I see the start of a blossoming beautiful rela- Ow!" She said as I kicked her in the shin under the table.
I glared at her and she bit her tounge back and snickered.
"This isn't like the movies, guys my reality is not miss popular or so much attention, money, social standards. Mine is wires and tubes, no hair, constant pain, needles, nausea, crying, agony. When people see cancer they think of it like in the movies. It's not, it sucks." I blurted.
"Tracey doesn't understand that..." Duncan muttered, "I lost my dad to Hodgkin's lymphoma. Watching someone go through that much pain is unbearable beleive me and anyone who can go through that should be more rewarded then just popularity."
Bailey nodded, "Yeah we'll make sure you get what you deserve."
I just wanted to cry because people see dedicated to see me be recognized or something. They don't realize that my time is now limited here, I don't have long before I'm gone.
"Whoah, Aspen. Are you alright." Bailey asked.
I swallowed the lump in my throat, "It-It's nothing." I lied.
"Come on we can talk about it else where." Britt said and grabbed my hand. We dumped our trays and they all pushed me into the hallway and Duncan followed.
We went to the exploratory hallway that was empty. I had my mask in hand and I stepped it on again.
"What's going on?" Riley asked.
"You cannot tell anyone." I snapped.
"We promise!" Bailey said, everyone else nodded.
I took a deep breath, "I got my scans in recently and the tumors have spread troumendously. The doctors said if they can't shrink the tumor in this round of radiation then-"
Well I lasted that long before bursting into tears. Ducan came around and wrapped his arms around me and I just buried my face in his chest.
I pulled myself away and sniffed while wiping away tears, "They'll put me in hospice."
Everyone's jaws dropped.
"That's awful!" Said Gigi.
The bell rang, and people clamored in the hallways.
Bailey turned around, "We'll be praying!" She mouthed.
I weakly smiled and sighed and checked the time on my cell phone. My mom told I could stay half the day until my immune system built back up.
"I have to go," I said to Duncan.
"So do I," He said with a smirk.
Jesus that cute smirk could kill anybody.
He picked me up again and carried me to the office where they already had us checked out so we just walked out.
He literally carried me a block away to the coffee shop before his muscles gave out.
"You don't have to carry me," I said and giggled.
"But I want to, a Queen deserves a grand entrance." He said with that smirk.
My eyes widened and my jaw dropped in a half smile, "Your flirting with me!"
He smiled and pulled out a small velvet box and held it out and inside it, cusioned by fabric was a small silver ring with a little heart with small diamonds decorating it. I put my hand where my mouth would be and gasped, "Oh my god, Duncan!"
"Don't worry it's not a proposal it's a promise ring. Aspen Evans, I have fallen in love with you since the first day and even though I was stuck in a shitty relationship. Everyday when you were in the hostpital I would come visit you, although you were sleeping. That's why I would love it if you would be the honor of being my girlfriend." He said and handed the ring out.
I fanned myself with my hands to stop the tears, "Oh my god, yes!"
"Y-you will?!" He said and his eyes lit up.
I nodded, still in shock.
He slid the ring onto my ring finger and pulled me into a massive hug. This day just got a whole lot better.
