Chapter 21

Josh

     It has been three days since the incident and Erica was still in a coma. The doctor had come back in the room after Sara had left and told me one of the tests they did had come back and said she would be in a coma but they didn't know for how long. He also informed me that the police officer who had talked to me requested a rape kit and that it had come back positive with two different dna samples. The officer had called my cell phone to let me know they had Eric and the other guy in custody and they were to stand trial soon. He also told me that Erics dna didn't match Ericas at all which means they aren't tains their not even related at all. I wondered if Erica had known that or if her parents just let her think they were twins even though they looked nothing alike. I hadn't been to school or home in these past three days I refused to leave her for even a second. My parents came to visit and so did Missy and Sara.the guys even came. They all tried to get me to go home for a little bit but I said no. I was determined to make sure she came out of this I can't lose her. She's my everything I've never felt this way with anyone, and before her I did date a lot I never actually slept with many of them but I did date a lot trying to forget about Amanda. Once I met Erica that wasn't hard all I could think about was her day and night. I had my mom bring my music book and stuff up here and while I sat with her I would play my guitar and sing to her. When id sing her hand would twitch and that's what gave me hope that she could hear me and she knew I was here with her.
     The nurse had just come in to check her vitales and see if I needed anything. I asked her for something to drink and eat and she nodded leaveing to put the order in. I picked up my guitar again so I could continue writing the song I started. I had started playing and her hand twitched again making me smile. When I got to the part I was blocked at I got frustrated and put the guitar away. "No don't stop" I heard from the bed. I looked up and seen she was looking at me I couldn't believe it my beautiful girl was finally awake.

Erica

   The last thing I remember before passing out was Josh holding me and crying for me not to leave. Saying that he loved me. I told him I loved him to before the darkness took over me. Then I heard a lot of voices once screaming for a blood transfusion another screaming that she needed stitches. What's going on is someone dieing. Oh wait its me I'm dieing I cut my wrists why was I so stupid. Duh because Eric was turning me into a sex slave to be used and sold at his will. But Josh came for me I thought he didn't care. Maybe Amanda was behind the kiss it did look like he pushed her off and I blamed him. I slapped him. How can he still care for me after that. After all the voices I heard deeper voice ask for a rape kit.I'm so glad all I did was wash my hair each time just in case somene found me. After that it got real quit for a little bit. I tried to open my eyes but I couldn't it was like my body was telling my brain no it needs to sleep but how could I sleep when I knew where I was and why I was here. I heard the door open and then I heard hi my Josh he was here with me "she's so pale" he had said as he touched my cheek I so badly want to see him but my eyes just wont open. I heard the doctor say it was due to my blood lose and then Josg asked if he could stay. The doctor said yes then I heard Sara she was here to she was telling Josh she was going to go let everyone know who mattered know what happened. Then there was silence. I knew Josh was still here I could feel him holding my hand. I wanted to squeeze it and let him know I knew he was here but again I had no control over that. I heard the doctor come back "Josh her tests came back and I'm afraid to say she's going to be in a coma we're not sure for how long bit with the amount of blood she lost and how long she went with very little oxygen getting to her brain her body needs to heal itself. There is one more thing the officer that talked to you requested a rape kit it came back with two sets of dna we sent it to the station" he said and I couldn't hear Josh if he said anything he must have just nodded. Then silence again. I drifted off to sleep or what felt like sleep.
    A few hours later I could hear a phone ringing and it was Josh who answered it. "It was who" he said. "Their not wow ok thank you for letting me know" he said and I could here him sigh. It felt like dyas had passed Joshs parents had come and gone, same with Sara and Missy, the guys had even come. Josh had his mom bring his guitar and music stuff and he played and sang for me. After he ordered something to drink and eat he played again but he got to a certain pasrt and got frustrated.
      I tried to open my eyes again and as I did the brightness stung them a little. I looked around the room and noticed it was a private room then I looked to where the music was coming from just in time to see him put the guitar donw. "No don't stop" I said I wasn't sure if he had heard me with how hoarse my voice sounded from not useing it for who knows how long I've been out. "Erica" he said like he didn't believe it was me. "Erica your finally awake" he said smiling and coming towards me to take my hand once again. I smiled at him "how long have I been here" I asked as he sat on the side of my bed. "Three very loing and agonizing days with out seei g your beautiful eyes, seeing your beautiful smile and hearing your amazing voice" he said kissing my hand. "Three days really" I said and he nodded. "I'll be right back I need to get the nurse and let her know you woke up baby" he said and kissed my hand again before dashing out the door. He came back just a few seconds later with a short blond woman following him. "Your awake that's great how are you feeling sweetie" she said as she came over to mw to chexk my vitales. "Good I guess" I said. "Any pain at all" she asked and honestly I didn't have time to think about that when I opened my eyes and seen Josh him being here was all that was on my mind. "Actually yea a little" I said. "Ok I'll get you something for that and let the doctor know your awake" she said as she left the room.
     "I'm so glad your ok Erica I was so scared I was going to lose you" said Josh as a few tears escaped his eyes. "I'm sorry nJosh about everything about over reacting to Amanda about slapping you about cutting my wrists I'm so sorry I love you I swear I do I never wanted to hirt you ever" I said as tears escaped my eyes as well. "Erica you have nothing to apologize for. I love you so much and if I would have just followed you to your house none of this would have happened I could have saved you from him" he said. He looked down "I could have saved you from being rapped again I'm the one whoshould be sorry not you I'm a crap boyfriend for not being there when you needed me I'm so sorry" he continued on a sob. I pulled him to me and wraped my arms around him even though it hurt to do so I didn't care I just need him close to me. "Josh listen to me. None of this is your fault do you understand me" I said as he looked at me and I wiped away his tears. He nodded and for the first time in three days he kissed me and god did I miss his kisses. I don't know how long we just laid there together and kissed but when the doctor came in and cleared his throught I blushed and Josh fell off the bed. "Well hello Erica I'm Dr. Smith how are you feeling" he said smiling at me. "I'm a bit sore but other than that I'm good" I said. "That's to be expected with the tramu your body went through. If your up to there is an officer here who would like to speak to you" he said and I nodded.
     He left the room and sent the officer in. "Hello Erica I'm officer Johns are you sure up to telling me what you remember" he asked. I nodded and he took a seat. "After I left Joshs after our fight I went back to my house well the house I use to live in. I had moved out and moved in with Josh and his family because I wasnt safe. When I got home I had thought everyone was gone but Eric was there. I just didn't realize his car was in the garage. He had cornered me at first and threatened me. He wnated me to go to the basement because he had another man coming over that paid him to have sex with me. When I wouldn't do as he told he threw me down the stairs and then threw me on the mattress that Josh found me on. He then came down to the basement and ordered me to get undressed. Again I refused and he smacked me, then ripped open my shirt. He began to fondle my breats and when he went to take off my pants I tried to resist again that's when he punched me. Once he got me completely naked he began to rape me and I couldn't believe that ot was happeneing because he was my brother or I thought he was until he decided to flip me over and rape me anally that's when he told me he had been adopted. When he was done he cam in me and then told me to wash up because he had someone coming in a half hour. I went and turned the shower on but I knew if I took a real shower it'd wash away any evidence of the rape so I just washed my hair. When he brought Jermey in he said he had an hour to do with me as he pleased and left. Jeremey then instructed me to undress him after I took his shirt off he forced me to my knees so when I got his pants and boxeres off he could force me to give him a blow job first. He had then pushed me to the bed and began rapeing me the same as Eric did but it seemed to turn him on the more he hurt me and made me scream whe. I realized that I stopped screaming but he smacked me and thwn cam on my stomach. Eric came back down a little after he left to tell me I was never leaving the basement and brought food and drink down. I threw the plate and glass at the wall. I was sp desperate to make sure I wasn't going t live as a sex slave and slit my wrists after a bit is when Josh found me and some how got me here" I finished and didn't notice tears were streaming down my face.
      "I know how hard that was thank you for doing it though. I have one more thing to ask you. Are you willing to testify against Eric and Jermey in court in two days" asked the officer. I looked to Josh "its up to you sweetie if so I'll be there with you the whole time" he said and squezzed my hand. "It will help put them away for a long long time so they don't hurt anyone else" said the officer and I looked back to him. "I'll do it" I said he smiled and thanked me before leaving. And the doctor came back in. "Well Erica everything looks good. I'm gonna write you a script for your pain and if you feel up to it you can go home in a couple hours" he said and I smiled nodding. I wanted to be home with Josh and the rest of the Ramsays. "I'm gonna call and let mom and dad and Sara know" said Josh smiling. He called and talked to them for a few mins and I decided to lay back and just watch him. As he hung up he smiled at me and came back to sit down. We talked about everything that happened in the last three days and about Amanda how she gave up and went back to Canada. Momma Ramsay and Sara came up and brought me a change of clothes Josh had told them about Eric riping the outfit they had bought me to shreds so they went out and bought me another new outfit but a differnet shirt so I didnt think of what happened everytime I wore it. I changed and by the time I was done the doctor had come back in. He had my release papers all ready and my script and he had the nurse come in to change the bandages on my wrists before I left so Josh and I knew how to do it at home. I thanked them and we left finally on our way home.
