Havyn's P.O.V.

Two months after the brutal attack that put me in the hospital, and I am finally working the nerve to go back to school. Mark, my Father, hasn't shown up since the news of my "mugging" spread like wildfire through the media, the police in desperate search for the culprits. Kai, who has stuck by my side through this entire ordeal, tried convincing me to tell the police the truth about my Father, but I couldn't bring myself to, even after all he has done to me over the past three years. Since I wouldn't tell the police the truth, Kai made me promise him that I would call if my Father decided to show up, which I agree to. I don't even want to think about how Kai would handle the situation. My Father would probably end up in a body bag. I shiver at the thoughts.

"You okay?" Kai asks, leaning against my bedroom door.

I jump.

"How in the hell did you get in here?" I ask.

"The front door," he chuckles. "Sarah let me in."

Sarah has been staying at my house with me ever since I got released from the hospital, being at my beck and call. Every move I made, she would be right beside me. Not even two days in and I was ready to scream my head off.

"You mean my shadow," I say, rolling my eyes.

"Yeah, the shadow," he says, crossing his arms over his chest.

I watch him as he observes my bedroom. My room is nothing extraordinary. I mean it is a little over the top, but that is because my Mom insisted that she have the best of the best of the interior designers in Eastside come and give my room a makeover when I turned fourteen. That was only a month before her death. I've repainted the walls and changed the colors since then, making it more, well me. The walls are darker than they once were, just as everything else in the room in is. The only color that truly stands out is red, which is supposed to accent the black and gray and white spread around. A smirk appears on Kai's face.

"What?" I ask, curiously.

"Nice room," he winks.

"Are you being sarcastic right now?" I ask, sitting on my bed. "Because if you are, I happen to like my bedroom the way it is right now and could care less if you did or not. I am the one sleeping in it, not you. So ha."

"I could be sleeping in it," he says, walking across the room.

"Oh, really?"

"Really," he whispers, climbing onto my bed.

He gently shoves me, making me fall onto my back underneath him. The smile I am trying to hide beats out my serious face. As he bends down to press his lips to mine, I roll out from underneath him, pinning him to the bed now. I smirk down at him, which he returns with his incredibly good looking half smile that can be irresistible. I lower my lips onto his, savoring the time. His lips are soft and gentle on mine, but that quickly changes when I deepen the kiss by pressing my body tighter to his. I find myself back under him, his mouth still on mine. I wrap my fingers into his hair that has that always has that messy hair look.

Someone clears their throat, breaking us apart. Kai falls onto the bed beside me, groaning because of frustration. I lift my head a little to find Sarah and Finn leaning against my door frame. Sarah has her hands on her hips looking impatient, while Finn has a smirk on his face. I am sure that he is enjoying this. I roll my eyes and let my head lay back onto the bed.

"There are plenty of empty bedrooms for you two," I chuckle.

Sarah runs across the room, leaping onto me. She grabs a pillow and starts hitting me in the face with it. I shield my head with it, laughing. Finn joins in on the fun, grabbing a pillow and slapping Kai with it, which is a big mistake, because Kai flips Finn over onto the floor, pinning him down with a foot on his chest. Sarah and I fall back together, giggling like hyenas. Our turn my head to face her and she does the same.

"Thanks for being my best friend," I say, nudging her in the side with my elbow.

"Thanks for being mine," she replies, nudging me back.

When we all pull into the parking lot in Finn's Jeep, everyone looks morbid when I step down out of the back. I am sure they all shocked that I am back after such a long time. Thank god I am still considered a minor, or my name would have been released to the press after my "mugging". Sarah links her arm into mine, helping me relax. Kai and Finn follow close behind, arguing quietly about something that is probably meaningless. The red sea parts and we push through the front doors of Eastside High School.

Out of nowhere, Chris rushes up and scoops me into his arms, obviously very happy to have me back. Matt does the same once Chris releases me. Kai's face goes hard but softens when I grab his hand, and pull him after me towards our lockers. Jaxon joins the group, completing us. Two of the most bad ass kids joining forces should be fun. The teacher's and student body are going to follow over dead. I chuckle to myself.

"What is so funny?" Kai asks, whispering into my ear.

"Us," I chuckle. "We're double trouble."

"This town just got a little more interesting," he smirks, pulling me into him.

I lean my head onto his chest, listening to his steady heart beat. We aren't officially official, but we are us and that is all I really care about. As long as Kai is standing next to me, that is all that matters. He kisses the top of my head just as the bell rings. He tries walking me to class, but I refuse since his class is on the other side of school and I know that he will most likely already be late enough as it is. The only reason I am not going to be tardy, is because it is my first day back and I do not want detention this afternoon.

Mr. Richards almost drops all of his papers when I walk into the room.

"Ms. Holloway," he says, regaining his composure. "It is nice seeing you again."

The only reason this jack ass is being nice right now is because all of my teachers know exactly why I have been out of school so lately.

"I wish I could say the same thing," I smirk.

"Such a bitch," Chris whispers in my ear, making me giggle.

"Still the same old, same old I see," Mr. Richards says, flatly.

"Yup," I say, popping the 'p'.

I plop down in my chair, getting comfortable. For the rest of the period I sit back and ignore every word that comes out of Mr. Richards mouth. When the bell rings I am the first one out of the door, immediately scooped over someone's shoulder. I squeal. Kai is chuckling underneath me, holding onto the back of my thighs tightly to make sure that I don't slip off. He carries me all the way to Mrs. Fisher's classroom, dropping me off into my normal seat. Chris is already sitting at the table, laughing at me.

"Thanks for the ride," I say, sliding down Kai's chest.
