When it was time to get in the car I rushed to grab Vanessa's hand and pulled her in behind me. We had to sit together for this hour ride home.
When we sat in our seats she smiled at me and reached for her seatbelt.
"Uh uh." I laughed, pulling her closer to me. No one ever buckles up, not even the moms, only Vanessa ever does. Vance is a very safe driver.
Her butt stayed on the seat, but I pulled her legs across my lap, making it easy to put my arms around her.
"Did you miss me?"
"Of course! Did you miss me?"
I smiled and then watched her smile back. "Every. Single. Day."
I awkwardly leaned my head downward to reach her lips and then I kissed her. I realized it was our first time kissing since I've been back, so I kissed her for longer.
"Jesus. Get a room." Mario laughed.
Nessa reached behind herself to hit his shoulder. "Mario shut up."
I heard Mrs.Jara say something about how cute we are and I looked at my mom for just a second. She was watching Nessa and I, and smiling. She told me that when I saw her again I would forget all about how sad I was when we were apart...she was right.
Vanessa is so different from other girls I've been with. And I mean that in a good way. She supports me, she doesn't use me for followers or anything like that, AND her and my mom have a good relationship. Having to go away so often, for so long, is gonna be hard; but I'm blessed that I have someone as incredible as Vanessa to miss in the first place. Nessa noticed the light brown band aid that stretched across the top of my hand and rubbed over it with her finger.
"What happened?"
"I was trying to be cool and do this trick on my skateboard, but I fell off and scraped up my hand."
She shook her head and laughed. "I keep telling you to be careful."
"But babe, I'm a savage."
The entire car broke out into laughter, I even saw Vance chuckle through the rearview mirror.
"I am a savage!" I told them.
My mom laughed even harder. "Yup. You're my little savage!"
"Mom!" I groaned.
Guys...I am a savage.
