I sighed deeply. "We should go to the library today." Emerson said. "I want to get the next book of this series." She holds up a book with a dragon on the front.

"Sure... I have nothing better to do." I said twisting my pencil in my fingers. "Plus I already finished my book."

"Dude you got that book Friday." Emerson says. The teacher was putting the warm up on the board and we ignored her. I had my notebook open and empty on my desk.

"I don't have a life." I said.

"More of a life than me." Emerson says.

I rolled my eyes and the teacher scolds us for talking. I started writing in the bare page. The class felt like days were passing, mostly because I was dreading for lunch. Lunch is where Silas is. I felt like hitting my head on a wall. This is not healthy.

I walked to the lunch table and Silas was the only one sitting down. Everyone else is getting lunch and Silas for some reason does not eat lunch. I stood by the door looking for options. Silas looked up and our eyes met. Shit. I walked over sitting across from him.

He smiled and I focused on my sandwich container. "Why don't you like me?" He asked. I didn't answer. He asked again.

"I didn't say I didn't like you." I said taking a bite from my sandwich. "I just said I think of you as an acquaintance nothing more or less." I said a bit harshly.

"That hurts." He says. He leaned against the table both his arms sprawled out.

"I'm sorry." I said actually starting to feel bad.

He supported his head on his hand. "How do I move up on your friend scale?" He asked. I rolled my eyes and he frowned. "Well that is not very helpful." He says. Is this his way of flirting? If so, he is being more annoying than cute.

Loral and Brayden came to the table sitting down. I greeted them thankful for their appearance. We had small talk, talking about our day. Silas stared off into space more often and only contributed into the conversations with a few comments. Did I actually offend him?

I kept my eyes from everyone else. I focused on my phone, book, and other things. I would look busy and didn't have to talk. I didn't have to look up and meet Silas' gaze. If you looked awkward up in the dictionary my face would be there. I was jerked from my thoughts when Emerson started to invite the table to the library.

Everyone chorused off that they could go. "I can't I have stuff to do tonight." Silas said. I was cheering on the inside. I felt bad, but I was.

"Stuff." Cassie echoed.

"I have an essay in Social Studies." He said.

"That sucks." Emerson says.

"Why don't you write it at the library." Loral offers.

Silas shook his head. "I would get more work done if I went straight home." He admitted.

"True." Loral says.

Later that day we met in the library in the magazine section in the back. I read my book sinking into a bean bag chair. "Quin. Quin. Quin.... Quiiiiiin." Cassie called. I sighed; I bookmarked my book setting it down.

"What." I said annoyed.

"Why have you been weird lately." Cassie said. I just shrugged my shoulders. I didn't feel like talking.

"She liiiikes Silas." Emerson says as if to answer everything. I scoffed crossing my arms.

"You two would be a good couple." Loral says. I glared at her.
