I walked into Silas apartment and Loral was the first to tackle hug me. "Leave me again and I will kill you." She says.
"I think that defeats the purpose." I said. I hugged Emerson, Maria, and Cassie before sitting down on the couch. Loral and I probably told what happened at least three times so everyone would have the full story. Loral and Brayden were the first to leave. It was almost midnight. I tried to give Maria her stuff back, but she refused saying I will probably have more use for them.
Soon everyone left to go home or to bed. I leaned on Silas's shoulder in the living room. "Can you spend the night?" He asked. "We don't have to do anything you don't want to. You could even just sleep on the couch."
"Why?" I asked lifting my head. I was still in the dress and it was starting to get really itchy.
"I don't want you to be alone, if they try to take you..."
"I won't be alone. My mother and brother are home." I interrupted.
"Please just stay for tonight so I know you are safe." He asks.
I sighed deeply. "Okay, just for tonight and I will sleep on the couch." I leaned over kissing his lips lightly.
"Thank you." He says. We both got off the couch and I followed him to his bedroom. He reached into his closet pulling out a duffle bag. "These were Penelope things... I'm pretty sure she had a few pair of pajamas." He says.
"Thank you." I said awkwardly taking them to the bathroom. I tried to reach in the back, but I could not get the strings of the corset, never less untie it. I tried forever and I started to realize how tired I am and how late it must be. I walked out of the bathroom. Silas was wearing pajama pants and no shirt. He was digging through his closet pulling out a blanket.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
I felt so awkward and I couldn't meet his eyes. "I can't undo the corset in the back." I said quietly. He didn't say anything. I turned around and pulled my hair away. He slowly started to undo the strings and I let out a deep breath. I was really aware of his fingers brushing my spine making my hair stand up on my arms.
"It's quite a nice dress." He says.
"I will probably never wear it again." I say as he finished handing me the strings.
I shivered again as he ran his finger down my spine. I grabbed the shoulder of the dress to keep it from falling. "I'll kill Jett before he lays a hand on you like that again." He says and then touched my neck where Jett probably left marks.
I thanked him quickly walking back into the bathroom and changing into pajamas. Why does every time someone finds out about an awesome world, everyone is trying to kill them? I scrubbed my face and neck trying to put the feeling of the night away. Trying to get the feeling of Jett's lips on my neck away.
I yanked Penelope's brush through my hair. It was extremely strange using her things. She was a size bigger than me and wore a different style than me. Everything also smelled like vanilla perfume. I want to ask Silas why he kept her things, but I didn't want to make him upset. I can't be jealous over a dead girl.
I walked over and Silas handed me a pillow with a blanket. He kissed my head. "Good night." He says.
"Sweet dreams." I said walking off into the living room. Through the night I kept tossing and turning. I couldn't get any sleep. Every time I closed my eyes I saw Corrine, Liam, and Arlie. I felt like they are more dangerous than even Jett. I kept hearing Jett say "Corrine has control over me... I have no free will..." The words spread through my mind and cycled over and over like a bad song.
