All of your guys auras are unusually strong. Especially you two." He says pointing to Loral and I. I didn't say anything. I tried to fish my sandwich out of my soup with my spoon.

"You can read auras?" Loral asked.

"What is an aura?" Brayden asks.

"An aura is an energy that protects the soul that surrounds a person. It changes shade to your mood and can describe the unconscious. They can also be called Charkas. Yes, I can see them." Silas explains. "You guys really don't know the type of magic your dealing with?"

"We just got spell books from the book store, we didn't think it was real." I said.

"You humans are so ignorant and naive." He says moving his fingers through his hair.

"Excuse me?" I said.

"Are you a vampire?" Cassie asked cutting me off. Silas scoffed shaking his head.

"Another witch?" Loral asked.

"Yeah you can say that." He says.

"What kind of magic do you do? What are you able to do?" Loral says.

Silas chuckled. "I used to be able to do whatever I put my mind too." He said.

Everyone at the table was looking at Silas. I couldn't meet his eyes. My stomach was filled with moths. I felt like my tomato soup was no longer going to stay down. Magic isn't real. Vampires aren't real. Why is this happening now? Why is it happening like this?

"Quin, you alright?" Cassie asked.

I nodded quickly. "I'm fine."

"If you are a witch prove it." Emerson said. "Do a witchy spell."

Silas laughs. He takes a ring off his finger; it was a solid silver band. He rolled it across the unsteady picnic table. Emerson picked it up. "Put it on. You will be able to see your friend's auras." He said.

Emerson shrugged and put the ring on her finger. She looked around squinting. "You guys are glowing." Emerson says. She looked around like a lost person. Her chocolate eyes wide and her mouth open in a small o.

"I thought I just glowed naturally." I teased.

"You do glow naturally." Silas says.

"All of your guys auras are bigger than everyone else's in the court yard. Cassie is very bright. Everyone else is brownish. Quin and Loral have a gold glittery band around them. Silas... you almost have no glow at all." Emerson started to describe.

"Let me see." Loral said holding out her hand.

"Give it back to me." Silas said. Emerson sighs and rolls the ring across the table to Silas.

"Emerson!" Loral complains.

"It is his." Emerson said.

Loral rolls her eyes. Emerson shrugged her shoulders. Loral sighed deeply and looked at the table. Her blonde soft curls fell in her face. She started to pout. Brayden chuckled and rubbed her back. For once I wished lunch would end quicker. It seemed to drag on today.

"Can I see the ring?" Cassie asked.

Silas sighed putting the ring back on his finger. "The ring only has so much energy. I don't want to use it all before I am able to recharge it." He explains.

"Oh..." Cassie says.

"What else can you do?" Emerson asked.

"I can do lots of things." Silas says blandly. His dark eyes studied his silver ring. He twists it around his finger as if trying to make it fit right.
