This started out as a prompt request, but it turned into something longer. The prompts were :
Nothing has ever scared me more than being with you #31
I almost lost you #7
I've seen the way you look at me when you think I'm not looking #10
I sat on the foot of the Star Labs hospital bed and waited for Barry to come running in like he usually does. I ignored what was being said over at the desk while I swiped through the photos of Barry and I that I have on my phone. It always helps me worry less. Everyone here says I worry too much when Barry goes out to save the city as The Flash, but let's be honest here-you'd be pretty worried if your boyfriend was the only person protecting a city from angry metahumans.
"(Y/n) you're going to have to move." Caitlin came running over to me and turned on all of the machines that were around the bed. I stood up and looked at her
"What's up?" I asked and tucked my phone into my pocket
"(Y/n) can I uh.. Show you something? It's the treadmill." Cisco waved you over to him.
"What'd you do to the treadmill?" I asked as he guided me to the room.
"Barry's hurt." He stated
"W-what?" I stared to him.
"Joe is bring him in. It doesn't look good." He sighed. My lips began to quiver as my breath got caught in my throat. I brought my hand up to cover my mouth as I began to shake my head and look anywhere but at Cisco. "Caitlins going to do everything she can and we're hoping that his speed will help with keeping him with us alright." He pulled me into his arms and my whole body started to shake and my vision became blurred with tears.
"This isn't happening." I cried into his chest.
"Cisco they're outside." Caitlin entered the room.
"I have to go help Joe bring him in." Cisco let go of me and ran out the door.
"You might want to stay in here." Caitlin said from behind me.
"No." I muttered and turned around. "You might need my help." I stated as I wiped my tears with my shirt sleeve.
"You're in no shape to do anything at the moment." Caitlin sighed
"I'm going to help where I can Caitlin." I stated and walked out of the room and over to the medical room we have in Star Labs. I grabbed a white lab coat and threw it on then grabbed two medical gloves and pulled them onto my hands. I grabbed my stethoscope and laid it around my neck.
"(Y/n) you don't have to do this." Caitlin grabbed a pair of gloves and slipped them on, just in time for Joe and Cisco to run into the Cortex carrying an unconscious Barry who was riddled by bullet wounds. He was all bruised and bloodied. Joe and Cisco laid him on the bed and Joe rushed over to me.
"(Y/n) what're you doing here?" Joe looked at me with his face tear stained and he pulled me into his arms.
"I have to save him." I muttered but before I could do anything I watched Caitlin and Cisco begin to take the suit off of Barry and I buried my face in Joe's chest.
"We're going to go somewhere else." Joe mumbled as he turned me around and started to lead me out of the room.
"We'll call one of you is anything goes wrong." Cisco said without looking away from his wounded friend.

The last thing I remember before I fell asleep was crying into Joe's shoulder as he tried to convince me -and himself- that Barry was going to be alright, and that he'd be back to his nerdy self in a week. But now I wake up alone in a room covered with a blanket laid on a cot. My eyelids stung when I open them. I winced at the slight bit of pain and stood up. I attempted to looked around the dark room, but gave up when I couldn't see a damn thing. I stood up from the bed and grabbed the blanket, wrapping it around my shoulders. I made my way out of the room towards the dimly lit door. I've never seen Star Labs this dark. "Caitlin? Cisco?" I called out as I ran my hands across the wall. "Joe?" I heard feet shuffling across the floor as I neared the Cortex. "Guys?" I turned the corner and entered the cortex. When I saw who was walking around my hands flew up to my mouth and I gasped.
"Don't tell Caitlin I unhooked myself from the machines. I was thirsty." Barry looked over at me. Tears threatened to spill as I walked over to him. "Are you okay?" He asked as he tried to limp towards me. I jogged over before he could try to walk more.
"You shouldn't be walking." I wrapped my arm around his back and helped him back to the bed.
"But I'm thirsty." He pointed towards the mini fridge we installed near the treadmill room.
"You're also loaded with some speedster strength pain meds." I chuckled sadly as I helped him lay back down on the bed.
"You're crying." He reached over and wiped my tears. I shook my head and wiped my face with my sleeve.
"I should go get you a water." I turned around and went to go grab him a water bottle.
"Why are you crying?" He asked.
"I almost lost you." I said sadly before I turned around to face him. He had a sad smile on his face, when I was fully turned around his facial expression quickly changed back to neutral. I raised a brow confused but walked towards him, unscrewing the cap to the water
"I love you." He smiled up at me.
"I love you too." I pressed a button on the bed to bring it up into a sitting position. "Have a drink." I passed him the bottle and he took a swig of it.

I woke up again to someone running their fingers through my hair. I lifted my head and rubbed my eyes. "Good morning." I smiled at the sound of Barry's voice.
"Mornin'." I smiled over at him. I looked around and saw that we were still alone in the Cortex, but all of the lights were on. "Is everyone else here?" I asked. Barry nodded
"Yeah, Caitlin came in early to make sure I was alright. I am by the way." He smiled "I'm healing fast."
"Good." I sat up straight and held his hand in mine. I brought his hand up to my face and pressed my lips to the back of his hand. "I was so scared." I sighed.
"I don't plan on leaving you yet." He smiled sadly.
"You better not leave me." I smiled
"Sorry for scaring you." He sighed.
"I'm sure I've scared you before, so let's say we're even." He chuckled at my comment
"(Y/n), nothing has ever scared me more than being with you." He sighed
"What do you mean?" I question
"I'm so scared that being with you, is going to put you in danger. Hell I know being with you puts you in danger, everybody here knows that, and it scares me to death knowing that something might happen to you, and I won't be fast enough to help." He answered
"Is that why you look at me the way you do?" I tilted my head at him.
"What do you mean?" He furrowed his brows confused.
"I've seen the way you look at me when you think I'm not looking." I sighed "That sad smile you have."
"It's not a sad smile." He rubbed his thumb over the back of my hand. "It's just bittersweet." He sucked in his lips.
"How so?" I asked
"I just don't want to lose you." He said softly "I'm afraid to lose you. You know that Gideon has that newspaper, and it says Iris All-"
"I know what it says. Everyone here has told me what it says." I urged "But we can make our own future. And who knows! We could have already changed the future, you guys haven't checked on Gideon since I met you. Or at least that's what Cisco says." I shrugged
"You seem so sure." He chuckled
"I'm not sure of a lot of things" I stood up and chuckled "But I am sure that I love you and that's all that matters." I dipped down and gave him a quick peck on the lips.
