Unexpected Guests

The moment was broken shortly after by a knock at the door, I looked away from his gaze coming back to reality, trying to steady my heart rate and not meet anyone's eyes, knowing that Bonnie and Elena would say something but Stefan, I don't know and that scared me more.

"I wonder who that could be." Elena says before standing up and walking to the front door to see who it was.

The three of us left were sat at the table in silence, I knew that we didn't know what to say and if we did it may come out wrong.

"I'm going to go to Elena." Stefan states before following Elena's pursuit.

Once he's out of sight, I feel Bonnie's gaze burning into the side of my head. "What was that?" She questions.

"What was what?" I ask back trying to act like nothing happened but knowing that it wasn't working.

"Kyra." Bonnie sternly says, making me look up at her, "Do you like him?"

I scoff at the question, " No." I state, "I don't, I can't and I won't. He's Elena's boyfriend, they love each other and I couldn't do that to Elena." I say it all looking at Bonnie in the eyes making sure she believed me, even if I didn't know if it was the truth. 

"Alright, just don't do anything stupid." Bonnie answers.

I look down at my knees once again, trying to rack my brain around what I was doing. "Yeah," I say quietly, so quiet I didn't know if Bonnie heard me, but I didn't care.

We find ourselves all in the living room, now including Caroline and Damon as well. I sat on the floor at the feet of Bonnie while everyone else was scattered around.

"I cannot believe that Mr. Tanner let you on the team. Tyler must be seething. But good for you. Go for it." Caroline states talking to Stefan about him getting on the football team.

"That's what I always tell him. You have to engage. You can't just sit there and wait for life to come to you. You have to go get it." Damon says, I don't know what it was about him but I didn't like it, it made my skin crawl yet I couldn't figure out what it was.

"Yeah, Elena wasn't so lucky today. It's only because you missed summer camp. God, I don't know how you're ever going to learn the routines." Caroline states, being the head cheerleader.

" I'll work with her. She'll get it." Bonnie states, annoyed at Caroline's comment.

"I guess we can put her in the back." Caroline thinks about it, wondering if it would be a good idea yet not wanting to hurt her friends feelings so going with that idea.

"You know, you don't seem like the cheerleader type, Elena." Damon jumps in. 

"Oh, it's just 'cause her parents died. Yeah, I mean, she's just totally going through a blah phase. She used to be way more fun. And I say that with complete sensitivity." Caroline jumps in, making sure that Damon doesn't get a chance to speak to Elena, scared to whether the Gilbert girl would take Damon away from her too.

"I'm sorry, Elena. I know what it's like to lose both your parents. In fact, Stefan and I have watched almost every single person we've ever cared about die. " Damon says, I glance up for the first time form the floor, and see Damon look at Stefan quickly.

"We don't need to get into that right now, Damon." Stefan cuts into the conversation sternly and quickly.

"Oh, you know what, you're right, Stef. I'm sorry. The last thing I wanted to do was bring her up. Mmm." Damon says. I know that he's trying to mess the couple. However, it made me wonder what he was on about and who this 'her' was.
