At school, me, Bonnie and Elena walk down the hallway as we see Caroline with someone who we did not expect. Matt Donovan.
"What the hell?" I mumble to the two next to me.
"Did I miss something?" Elena asks being as confused as I am at the current situation in front of us.
"They've been hanging out," Bonnie explains quite vaguely.
"Kind of weird, don't you think?" Elena says which it would be especially as Matt is her ex.
I look at the pair watching them slightly trying to figure out what I think about it while Bonnie actually answers.
"She needs someone nice like him, as opposed to a homicidal vampire like Damon." Bonnie comments to which I look at Elena and Bonnie nodding in agreement.
"True. I suppose there's definitely less of a chance she'll be killed if she's with Matt." I say adding to what Bonnie said.
"Yeah, how are you doing with all that anyway Bonnie?" Elena ask seeing as its only been a couple of days.
"I'm freaked out. Damon attacked me. I could be dead right now. But I'm also grateful." She explains.
I tilt my head slightly, "How so?" I ask.
"To Stefan. He saved my life and..." She tells me then turns to Elena, "Have you seen him?"
She shakes her head, "Not since he told me he was leaving. For all I know, he's already gone." She tells us both, I look down for a moment feeling slightly guilty now knowing that Stefan didn't say an actual good bye to Elena and that meant I was the last person he saw.
"He wouldn't leave without saying good bye," I tell her, trying to assure her knowing how much she could overthink things.
"Yes, he would. He thinks he's protecting me. Clean break and all that." Elena contradicts.
"So, what are you gonna do?" Bonnie asks.
" What am I supposed to do? I've already begged him not to go. If I ask again, I'm being selfish. It is what it is."Elena shrugs her shoulders in defeat.
"Maybe it's for the best." Bonnie says trying to make her best friend feel better.
Elena stops suddenly to look at Bonnie with a serious face, "What? Why? " She says.
I look at Bonnie to see what her answer would be because I would have no idea what to say in that situation.
" I mean, what kind of future could you have had with him, even if he stayed?" Bonnie says which made me think about it and it was kind of true.
Then at that moment a banner fall on to us which says, 'The Promise of Your Future'. Me and Elena both look at Bonnie confused.
"Did you just...?" Elena begins to ask.
"No, I swear." Bonnie says putting her hands up in surrender.
And with that Elena hits the banner and storms off towards class. I look at Bonnie who looks quite surprised by what happened.
"Shall we?" I say gesturing to going after Elena to which Bonnie nods and so we carry on down the hall following Elena's footsteps.

After class, I head down the hallway and decide to go outside for a bit not being bothered about the rest of the day. I get to the door and open it and head out. I begin to walk to get to my car when from the corner of my eye, I see a familiar face which causes my to turn around abruptly.
