Chapter 3- New bonds

"Its good to see you eating and smiling again, Bella" said Mike as we made our way to my truck

Mike took my hand briefly in his and I was fully aware of the action.. We were friends so I just let him have his moment.

He pulled me to a stop...

"Bella,you do know I like you, right?" he said and I could see bringing up that topic was hard on him considering how I reacted every time he said it.

He stood there fidgeting with my fingers, flashing pink.making me blush as well.

"Mike I don't want to be rude or anything but I'm not ready for any commitment right now, I'm not stable for it" I said freeing my hand from his and throwing my lose hair back.

Mike's face went pale and I just stood there nervously shifting my weight from my left leg to my right.

"Holy crab! Mike, breath or you're going to hyper ventilate" I said seeing how white his lips got.

He let out a long breath...

"Oh there you are beautiful" I heard Jacob's voice coming from a distance.

I was glad to see him, as I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and flashed a smile.

There he was standing by the rabbit, he fixed last time we were together before the werewolf mess; shirtless with only cut off shorts.

"Am I interrupting something?" he said looking all innocent with his childlike face.

He made his way to my side making sure he left space between him and Mike.

I opened my mouth to protest but Mike beat me to it.

"Yeah you are actually, so if you don't mind we would like to be alone" Mike said spitting the words like poisonous venom.

I felt the ground shaking from where Jake was standing, he was clenching and unclenched his fists and a growl like sound rippled through his lips.

I was caught between yet another boy drama, so soon.

"No, you're not interrupting. In fact I was on my way to you right now for our hiking trip actually" I said hoping my technique eased his mood

I saw a smile replace his killer glare and I knew I had won, Though Mike had a big frown on his face. I turned to Jake.

"If the lady wasn't clear enough, I believe she said you should be going Mr whats-your- face" Jake said with a big cocky smile on his face.

What a charmer, that was my Jake alright.

"I can see you are occupied, see you at school Bella" Mike said as he walked off living me and Jake alone by the parking lot.

"Your's or mine?" I said as we turned to our cars.

"Oh Bells not so fast we have to get to know each other and then get married first" he said

I laughed only catching the joke a little late.

"Holy crab Jake is that all you guys think of" I said poking him with my elbow in is side.

"No Bells, you started the topic and when a lady usually says that a guy only jumps for the blades" He said wrapping his arm around my shoulders.

"For the blades, real funny Jake. Now seriously your car or mine" I said

"Bella I didn't know you had it in you" he said pulling me to a stop.

"Jake you are such a pervert" I said laughing as we stared at each other.

"Am I now?" he said raising his eyebrow and slighting his hands down my arms.

"I wouldn't have said it if it wasn't true. You know I'm a terrible liar"I said and he put on the cocky smile again.

After a long moment of quietness and staring at each other, what happened next I wasn't prepared for.

Jake moved in slowly raising his hand to my chin slowly tracing my face then to my lips. I didn't move, I didn't know what was keeping me either.

He then leaned in slowly giving me time to pull away and finally when our lips touched I felt a chill go up my spine.

This kiss wasn't anything like the one me and Edward shared, it was different and he didn't break the kiss either.

But I half realized what I was doing and broke the kiss.

Jake looked stunned

"how could you Jake, you know what happened, we're just friends" I said stumbling over my words

"Bella I didn't force you, you are guilty as much as I am for that kiss, are you telling me you didn't feel anything?" he said

"I can't, I don't... On Jake this can't be. I'm confused and can't think straight,talk to you later" I said as I ran for my car

"wait...wait Bella listen first" Jake said

I screamed "Later" as I jumped in my car.
