Cameron sits next to me with his shirt off. He wraps his arm around me as we sit together looking through a magazine on his bed.
"You gonna change out of those?" I ask him, tugging at his shorts. He still wears part of his outfit from the sleepover, I can't believe he's comfortable.
"You gonna take that off?" He tugs at the shirt he let me borrow.
"If you want me to. But then I'll be naked."
He stares me in the eyes.
"I don't think you're ready for all that." I add.
Cameron looks away. He's not. It's a little weird to me but everybody's different, I guess.
"Two people can lie beside each other naked without doing anything."
"Oh yeah?" I asked unbelievably.
"mhm."
"In what universe?" I smile.
Cameron smirks and sucks his teeth, going back to the magazine. "Well, obviously not in yours."
I don't get how Cameron was able to sleep with his ex but won't with me. What's he waiting for? This brings up thoughts of what Shai said, again. It's recurring and I've got to ask him.
"Cameron."
"Cene."
I rub on his chest and he looks at me. "What's wrong?" He asks.
"Why do you like me?"
Cameron shuts the magazine and readjusts himself to face me. "Why do you think?"
I shrug. "Why don't you like any of the other girls at Leid. They're all gorgeous. Why me?"
"...Because...none of them have curly hair." He partially jokes.
"Kiersey does." I add, swiftly.
"But I don't like Kiersey, I like you."
"What's another reason you like me? Be serious."
Cameron just sits and stares at me. "I love the way you look. I like the way you talk. You have a beautiful mind. You're complex, out of the box, unpredictable. You've just got me. I don't know how to really explain it."
That explanation was okay. I guess he's not that great at expressing his feelings. But Cameron's a pretty mellow guy with little emotion anyway, so...
"Why you ask? Feeling down about yourself?"
"How you figure?" I look up at him.
"I don't know. Maybe because I was with Megan all night. Think that made you a little mad. Did it not?"
"If you knew I didn't like it, then why didn't you check on me?"
"You wouldn't have anything to worry about anyway." He says.
"Why?"
"Megan likes what I like."
I don't understand what he means. I look clueless.
"She's a lesbian." He explains.
Well that takes a big weight off my shoulder.
"Why couldn't you just tell me that in the first place?"
"Because, I wanted to show you that you were tripping. Trying to make me jealous with that guy and all. You looked dumb. Is that the kind of girl you are?"
I lift up. He's starting to piss me off. I sit up and look at him. "What?" He asks.
"Serious?"
"Cene, what?"
