Cameron is so preoccupied with work and trying to get things right that I haven't been able to tell him what happened after the party, the other night. My dad and Denise are currently being investigated for suspicion of distribution of alcohol and drugs to minors, in their presence. I've been scolded, punished, reprimanded and even almost whooped by my dad until Yolanda put a stop to it. I need to air, because I haven't left this house for two days. I've been trying to keep myself from failing my senior year, but the stress is real.I cant get a hold of Cam's phone, neither anyone at the shop. The store phone keeps going to voicemail, so I decide to drive over there. I park in the back entrance and wait 10 more minutes for the crew to go to lunch. That's when the back door will open and I can let myself in. I see Cameron's car and look in it through the window, just to be nosy. I proceed to the back door and watch it swing open. Out comes Essie and Kiersey.
"Hey, what's are you doing here?" Essie asks.
"Just here to see Cam."
"Oh, good luck." She begins to walk away but I stop here.
"Essie, wait. Can I talk to you really quick?"
"Sure." She's anxious to see what about.
I pull her away from Kiersey and speak lowly.
"Theo came to my house the other night."
Essie's eyes get big. "Why?"
"Because...he thinks I ratted on him to the feds."
Essie shuts her mouth and stands as still as a brick wall.
"Was that you?" I ask her.
She's quiet.
"Okay, I knew it was. I just needed confirmation."
"For what?"
"He wanted to come after you. But luckily with the interference of my dad and the cops, he got arrested and I'm sure when they found out who he was, they did more than arrested him."
"So, he's gone?" She excites.
"He has to be."
Essie celebrates.
"That's not the issue. The issue is the fact that you snitched after Cam told us to stay out of it. And because of you, I almost got hurt, in the worst ways."
"I'm so sorry Cene. I truly am, but I stood up for what I believed in. I can't help that."
"Just keep in mind who's life you're playing with, next time."
"Technically, judging by what you just said, mine was on the line, too. And I'm okay with that because I believed in doing the right thing." She says as she's backing away. She just wants the last word. She has no idea what Theo was going to do to her or me if I let him to her. But that's just how it goes at this place. I save b*tches and they thank me with sh*tty attitudes. I go inside and the break room is empty. I peek into Cameron's office and no one is in there. I don't wanna wait in the break room, so I do a little risk-taking and go onto the floor to look for him.
When I find him, he's coaching one of the associates on the register. A group of girls standing before it are all googly-eyed over him as he works. Typical. It's busy today and the store is packed. I'm glad everyone seems to be doing better...without me here, of course
Cameron happens to look up, feeling me staring at him and waves. I wave back and wait for him.
"What are you doing here?" He asks, walking up to me. He doesn't look super relieved to see me.
