My emotions get the best of me and I even think they're making me sick. I didn't exactly get out of bed this morning, I tumbled. I landed on both feet but I almost fell over. I'm so weak and filled with sorrow about what happened last night. I really thought I would be able to have something with Will and once again my step mom is the reason that can't happen. Of course, I barely see her with my work schedule and hers. But when I do, Im going to have an ear full for her.
I told Derek that I am no longer in need of a ride from him and he seems pretty stoked that my dad just handed over a pair of Ferrari keys.
"I wish I got a free car after doing something as stupid bringing my baby brother to work." He smiles.
I smile back and hit him on the shoulder.
He holds himself, "It's true though. You basically got rewarded for something bad, hahha. Reverse punishment."
"See you at work?" I say as we stand on my front lawn in the early morning.
"Nah, you waited till I got all the way over here. You should have just texted me."
"My bad. I just had other things on my mind that distracted me."
"Lets go. For old times sake." Derek walks around to the driver's side and gets in his Aston Martin.
I roll my eyes with a playful smile and hop in.
We arrive to Leid for our opening shift. Brenda's and Cameron's cars are here. My stomach flutters at the thought of Cameron and facing him. I'm not too excited to see him after the night he basically called me a hoe and after yesterday when he snapped at me for not letting him eat. We set our things down in the locker room and I throw my head down and think, before closing it. I think I need some time off.
I'm a bit sluggish in my movement and my opening duties are being barely fulfilled. Brenda and I cross paths a few times and she gives me dirty looks each and every time. It almost seems rehearsed, like she practiced which faces she was going to flash at me. I ignore her. I can't today. Especially since the reason is also because o Denise that Brenda seems to not like me.
Cameron's office door is slightly cracked open. I peak in and seem him chewing on something playfully as he types stuff on his computer. He looks like a puppy when he chews. I knock.
"Yeah?" He doesn't take his eyes off the screen.
"Morning."
He looks to see me walking in and shutting the door. HIs face gets serious and loses the playfulness in it. "Yeah?" He asks.
I don't sit down, instead I lean against the door.
"Hi Cameron."
"Cene." I can tell he doesn't really want to look at me. He's not apologetic for what he said at the party, obviously.
"I'm not feeling too well." I fumble my thumbs. "I was wondering if I could get a day or two off."
"When?"
"Tomorrow and the day after." I look like a small child asking for a toy from their mother.
Cameron gets back onto his computer and brings up a schedule. He looks me up and analyzes. He then takes out a black book and does some markings with a red pen. "You alright?" He asks, still looking at the computer, then the book.
I sigh. "Not really."
He pauses. "Wanna talk about it?"
I think he already knows, which is why he's ready to talk about it so eagerly. I don't answer. I'm hesitant to. I don't know if I like the fact that Cameron is going to be banking off my sadness because it makes him happy.
