She carves out every word anyone has ever told her. Nothing but bad things come to mind. She carves it all into her body so she can be remembered the way she thought people saw her. Eventually the way she saw herself.
People called her "worthless" and "disgusting" so she gladly carved that into her arms. People called her "stupid" and "arrogant" so she carved that into her legs. People called her "useless" and a "waste" so she carved that into her stomach.
All the free patches of skin got littered with cuts. Some deep, some long, some short. Some designed. She spoke these words to herself as she carelessly slipped away.
She took one last look in the mirror. The girl that looked back at her was a stranger. And all strangers hurt her. Even at this time she watched the girl in the mirror repeat these words also but more out of harshness then remembrance. The girl in the mirror would just be a memory like all those other strangers. All those other people who hurt her.
Her mind trailed of. Her eyes grew heavy. Pain was a virtue she had lived on but now it's the killer that ends her life. The harsh words others spoke drove her to the edge. The harsh words she spoke to herself whispered for her to jump. So she did. And while her eyes close for the last time she can only hope that when people find her they will remember her.
They will remember how they hurt her. Just like she will remember them. Just like she will remember all those words. Because as we all know, the words hurt her too, and things that hurt her are always
remembered.
