"What?!" Kento and Sou exclaim. I can hardly speak or think, my mind is buzzing with a million thoughts and emotions at once. In love with me?! But, how?! Is that possible?! My heartbeat almost seems to stop in my shock, leaving me a teary-eyed, jaw-dropped mess in the kitchen.
But I can still hear the sobs of Fuma in the living room. They sound somewhat muffled, as if he's covering his face with his hands or his arms. There hasn't been a sound in the world as painful as hearing Fuma, a collected and confident man, so broken.
Shori breaks the silence. "Let's get Marius an ambulance," he suggests.
"No, we don't want Johnny-san finding out about this, or Erika will be sent back to America for sure," Kento states bitterly. "I can call a private doctor. It's not like this is the first time Johnny's have gotten into fights."
Sou scurries away from his post at the kitchen entrance, rushing towards Fuma. "Come on, Fuma, let's go to your room," he says softly. Kento rushes into the kitchen and immediately dials a number. It seems like he's used it so much he remembers it like the back of his hand. I note that even Kento has a blue bruise on his cheekbone. What have I done?
Shori comes into the kitchen and puts a hand on my back, helping me to stand up and steadily walk towards the living room. Just as I peer around the corner I can see the back of a battered Fuma as Sou, face contorted with concern, follows him out. No...
And, of course, my greatest nightmare is just a few feet away from me. Marius hasn't moved an inch since he was knocked unconscious, but the pool of blood from his nose has stained a great portion of his shirt a dark red. I choke on another sob, and scramble over to Marius. My hands hover over him meaninglessly. I just don't know what to do.
I pick his limp head up and place it in my lap, stroking his silky wavy hair between my trembling fingers. I try to wipe away his bleeding nose, but only smear the blood on his cheek and on my thumb. I look down at my hand. A little bit of blood has gotten on my ring, leaving a bright red drop where the gem should be glowing as purple as always. My emotions overwhelm me and I hug him as gently but tightly as I can. My teardrops trickle down his face, leaving little streams where his cheeks are smeared with red.
I've destroyed Sexy Zone.
...
"He'll be fine, he just has a very mild concussion. I highly doubt there's been any permanent brain damage," the doctor states.
Shori, Kento and I breathe out a collective sigh of relief. We had cleaned up Marius with the doctor and taken him back to his bedroom. Now the only visible injuries on his body are several bruises on his chest and torso and, of course, the patch on his black eye. His skin is once again the supple porcelain of the angel that I adore.
But I still can't bring myself to smile. I've been propped up on the side of the bed, watching him for what seems like days. Marius still hasn't woken up, though the doctor expects him to be functioning at some point tonight. I run my fingers through his hair again, toying with the ends of his bangs.
"We're going to go check on Fuma. Will you be okay, Erika-chan?" Shori asks.
I sniffle and attempt to give him a crooked smile. "I'll be fine. I would like some alone time with Marius, anyways."
"Mm," he hums in agreement. "Then we'll be a few doors down. We'll probably be staying the night at Fuma's to keep an eye on him, so text us if you need anything."
"Okay, thank you Shori."
Then the doctor, Kento, and Shori rush out of Marius' apartment and lock his door behind them softly. The room is dead silent, except for the sound of Marius' steady breathing.
