As it would seem, the Destined were doing just fine, thank you very much.
Except for Alex. He was kind of freaking out.
"C'mon, man, you're overreacting. With all six of us here, you'll be fine," Jeremiah attempted reasoning. Alex refused to listen while he shook around in the fetal position.
"No way I'm fighting a six foot bug, staff or no, powers or no. You've seen the stuff that he can do, with the turning into a swarm of locusts and all. That thing's out of my league," Alex answered fearfully, shivering. Jeremiah had been trying to talk him out of being a little kid for at least ten minutes now. August was telling everyone that they had only a few minutes before they dropped in for a party. Jeremiah wanted to prepare Alex for the fight, remembering the horrific duel he had had with Castle two years ago, but Alex wouldn't have it.
"Alright, we'll go without you. But if we lose because no one had the ability to talk the Wind into separating the swarm so Locust couldn't re-form again(this had been the plan, of course), I'm blaming it on you," Jeremiah faked resignation with a passive-aggressive tone. That made Alex perk up.
"Okay, I'll go," he resolved, standing up. Jeremiah grinned and shook his hand. "C'mon, let's practice for a bit."

August stepped into his engine room. The machines inside whirred to life at his sight, gaining power from his mind. That was the blessing he had received from the pylon--the ability to use his ability from a distance, using brainpower. It was a useful little skill, one he used almost every day.
"What do I need to prepare for, Computadora?" August asked Computadora, his main commanding machine. She did useful things, such as reminding him what he needed to do, or managing the other machines. August had built her two years ago and hadn't been able to live without her since.
"Top Priority: Prepare La Armadura for combat. Second priority: Master recipe for chocolate chip bagels," Computadora answered. August was baffled. He was not only baffled that he only had two priorities, but also that one of them was mastering the recipe for chocolate chip bagels. How long had that been there?
"Gracias, Computadora," August responded to his favorite machine, then stepped over to his other grand prize: La Armadura, which translated simply to The Armor. He had no other name for it, and he had decided he had named enough things after himself, so The Armor had to do.
"Well," August thought aloud to himself as he took a look at the bronze and red suit of armor, "I know I'm going to need to polish it, in the slightest."

Heather wrote more notes on her spell book. She had learned so much since Jeremiah had reminded her to start practicing her powers again, and still there was much to learn. It was like that classic old adage: "The more I see, the less I know." That was how Heather felt, looking at all the ingredients, incantations, effects, and the like.
Then cam the matter of her plants. She had five in her room, and each were almost like they lived and breathed as humans do: a Venus flytrap, a Bonsai tree, a fern, a blueberry sprout, and a cactus. They were used to assist Heather in her diabolical plots that involved plants. However, with Locust practically breathing down the backs of all who dared think about him, Heather had other occupations beside her diabolical plans.
She wished her bow to her, which she realized was completely unnecessary, as it was three feet to her left. She picked up a pot that held a strange tree and set it down on the ground, then made it grow and curl at the top so it looked like a dartboard. She shot an experimental arrow, just to make sure her bow still worked. Fortunately, it did, and Heather was able to continue, moving on to the plants she would need.

Belle crossed her katanas again. Alex's staff clanged against the X that her blades made, and Alex grunted in frustration. "What are those even made out of, anyway?" he asked angrily.
"Awakened Impervium," Jeremiah answered for Belle. "No stronger metal in the world. The only way to overcome it is with a Destined's own magic power. Say, if I used Spectral Onyx, I might be able to do some damage, but if I used anything else, I'm doomed. It helps that Belle is the mistress of blades, currently the best sword fighter in the world." Belle smiled at Jeremiah's nonchalant compliment, then turned to Alex.
"Come at me again, kid," she challenged, then raised her swords in confidence.
"I'm sixteen," Alex retorted indignantly.
"Yeah? Well, I'm eighteen, but no one cares about that," Belle finished as Alex leaped for her again. She raised her katanas in an X, but this time, Alex seemed to weaken her a bit. Belle may have grit her teeth on the outside, but on the inside, she was pleased by Alex's determination.

Penny stared furiously at the ANTILIFE. It was simply a needle, a teeny, tiny needle at that, but the vial that was encased inside was so powerful that anything that had life fell to it. How was that even possible? How did that many reverse components, which took up an entire fridge made for holding the stuff, turn into something that could fit in the palm of her hand?
Penny picked up the ANTILIFE. This, and perhaps a few potions, would be the only weapons that she had in the fight against the giant insect. Will it be enough? Penny asked herself. Well, it's going to have to be, or I'm doomed.
Penny snickered internally at her non-joke, but then lost her smile at the depressing, but exciting truth. The fate of the world, or at least the farmer's market, was in the hands of this duel. No one knew what Locust was up to, but it couldn't have been good. Heather had told Penny about the whole adventure with Castle. If Locust was anything like the evil metal man-creature, they were in for a good time.
Penny packed a few potions meant for healing, and some meant for strength and speed, in her backpack. She put the ANTILIFE in her pocket, not exactly knowing what to do with it. She slipped the pack's straps onto her shoulders and found the others, who were all waiting in the eating room. August, or the metal man Penny assumed was August, had his hand on the sliding door handle.
"Are we ready, amigos?" he asked. The others cried out variations of "Yeah!"
"Well, no wasting time," he concluded. "Let's go."
He opened the sliding door, and the Destined leaped out the window.
