"What is going on?" Penny asked as soon as she and Alex were led into the train. She was visibly confused, and Alex could understand that. A few minutes ago(or perhaps hours, it depended on where the island was), they had been taking a stroll in the park, and Alex was just about to ask her out. Now, they were aboard a flying train going to whoever knows where, and everyone knew their names. As far as Alex was concerned, the wolf was the most normal thing he'd seen all day.
"We'll tell you all about our current mission in a moment," The lady named Heather told them. "But first, I have to talk with Jeremiah in private. And no, it's not what you think." Heather grabbed Jeremiah, opened a door near her, then ran through the door, closing it behind her. Immediately, Alex heard her raising her voice at Jeremiah. The only thing Alex heard Jeremiah say was "Please calm down." Alex turned back to the silver-haired girl and August, who were standing there calmly, as if they had known this moment was coming.
"I shall repeat my question," Penny said. "What is going on?!" August was quick to answer.
"You have been kidnapped by people of questionable intelligence. Those people of questionable intelligence are trying to destroy something that was once a man, but is now a six-foot-tall pest. We kind of know where it is, but only the general area. As I said, we have questionable intelligence." Alex wanted to take that as fact, but it was too absurd. A six-foot-tall pest? What? He thought, trying to wrap his head around it. However, his head was already not very flexible, and this new information was a lot to handle.
"I understand your dilemma," the silver-haired girl continued. "I'm wondering of you should come with us, as well. However, now that Dylan and Tamara are 'evil,' there's not much else we can do. You people are our best shot, so you'll just need to trust us, however questionable our intelligence is." Alex turned to Penny, then looked back at the silver-haired girl and August. "What is your name?" he asked the silver-haired girl.
"Belle," Belle answered. "Now, do you need some time to process this? We have a few days before Locust--the giant pest--tries his master plan." Penny and Alex exchanged glances, then nodded at Belle and August. Belle and August expressed that they were fine with that, and left the cabin.
"We have a lot to process," Penny stated the obvious. Alex snorted at that. "Well, we have a few days to do it," he noted, remembering what Belle had said. "Let's make the most of that time."

"Listen, Jeremiah, I have a little rule for you," Heather started sternly. Jeremiah nearly cringed at the intensity of her voice, which seemed to solidify in the air between them. "What is it?" Jeremiah obliged, knowing that that was what he was to say.
"NO RUNNING OFF," Heather declared, jabbing his ribs with her finger with each syllable, assuring it would stick in his head. However, she wasn't done. "Also, no making promises unless it's a group decision, no fighting alone, and...I had another one. What was it?" She stepped back, allowing Jeremiah to breathe for a moment. He barely had begun to inhale when she came back in. "And no dying! I hate it when you do that." She stepped back, this time allowing Jeremiah to start taking breaths.
"Anything else?" he asked, hoping she wouldn't have anything else. Unfortunately, she did. "Do you know what happened to Tamara and Dylan? Hmm?" she asked angrily. Jeremiah nodded, remembering the dream that Jali had shown him. "Yeah, they were corrupted by TG." That, apparently, wasn't what Heather was looking for. "What do you mean, corrupted?" she asked.
"Well, they lost all reason and goodness in them. They don't know why they're evil, and they can't think of a reason why. It's because they don't have a reason. TG is just enslaving them to destroy the world, and possibly create a new one. I don't know his intentions, and I'm not sure I want to know." Heather simply stood there, deep in thought. A few times, it seemed like she was about to say something, but she stopped and went back to thinking.
There was silence for a few minutes. "Stop listening to us," Jeremiah eventually said to Belle and August, who were hiding behind the door. He heard them groan in disappointment, then walk away. Eventually, Jeremiah thought of a good conversation starter--an excellent one, in his opinion. "You've been practicing your powers, right?" he asked.
Heather laughed, but not bitterly. It was more of an oh, shoot, kind of laugh. "Barely. As in, maybe once a month, when I'm not catching up on school." Jeremiah had forgotten about school, mostly because it didn't matter. Timmu and Jali has told him all he needed to know. "Well, I've practiced...significantly more than that," Jeremiah responded, unintentionally one-upping Heather. Heather raised her eyebrows, asking Jeremiah to elaborate.
"Well, I threw away my spear," he started.
"WHAT?" Heather was clearly shocked.
"I didn't need it anymore." Jeremiah shrugged.
"How? Why?" Heather was definitely shocked.
"Watch this." Jeremiah did a little spirit-fingers gesture, and five blades, made of shadow, appeared in a star formation behind him. Heather's jaw nearly hit the ground. Jeremiah saw a vase in the corner of the room and immediately knew what he wanted to do. With a flick of the mind, one of the shadow blades impaled the vase. The vase, of course, shattered into pieces. That enraged Heather.
"That was my mother's vase!" she cried out. Immediately, Jeremiah realized his mistake. Before he could apologize and use some shadow power to put it back together, Heather did one of her favorite things to do: she slapped him, adding to the bruise that was already on the side of his face.
"OW! Wait, Heather, I'll put it back together," Jeremiah apologized, then held his hand towards the shattered vase. Before Heather could ask how he was going to do that, exactly, the shards were arranging themselves to how they had been before. However, putting things back together was one of the more difficult things that Jeremiah had learned how to do, and he nearly fainted.
"You know I hate it when you do that," Heather scolded, catching him before he could fall.
"Apologize and try to fix things?"
"No! Faint, you idiot."
"If you insist." Jeremiah closed his eyes and went limp.
"GAAH!"
