Jessie's POV

I hurry back to my room to get ready. I throw on a pair of black leggings and a jumper, since it's chilly outside. I put on a touch of make-up and walk outside. I catch a cab and tell the driver the address. Soon enough, we pull up to the front doors. I pay the cabbie and walk inside. Immediately, a pair of arms wrap around my waist and holds me tightly. I turn and return the hug. "You know, to anyone else that would have been really creepy," I murmur into his chest.

He laughs quietly and says, "I know. But not to my beautiful girlfriend." I break away from the hug and press my lips to his gently. He responds instantly and passionately. After a few seconds we break it off since we're in a public place. "Do you want to go see Callie now?"

"Yeah, please." He laces his fingers through mine and leads me down several hallways and I take the time to get a proper look at him. "Have you been eating?"

He stiffens slightly and murmurs, "Of course I have been."

"You're a shit liar, you know that?" He doesn't say anything in response. "Why haven't you been eating?"

"I have been!"

"Why have you lost weight then?"

He sighs quietly. "I wasn't hungry."

"Not at all?"

"Not at all. You know how when some people get stressed or upset, they kind of binge eat?"

"Yeah..."

"Well...I have basically the opposite of that. I just don't eat. I can't, it feels wrong."

"We're going out to dinner tonight, then. I don't care what you say. We're going out, you're going to eat something, and I'm paying."

"No you're not!"

"Yes I am!"

"Nope!" We bicker back and forth for a minute or two before we come to a stop outside a room. Callie's room. "She's in here," he says before pushing open the door quietly, as if he were scared of waking her up. We walk into the room and sit on either side of the bed. I smile when I see the stuffed husky I bought for her birthday tucked underneath an arm. "The doctor's wanted her to have a comfort item, as they called it," Danny explains quietly.

"So she liked it, then?" I ask.

"Oh, she loved it. Huskies are her favorite. How did you know that?"

"She told me she used to have two huskies when she lived with her parents, so I thought she might like it." Danny nods and I study Callie for a moment. I notice she's wearing one of Danny's black t-shirts he sleeps in. Curious, I pull back the covers to see if she's wearing his pants, too. Turns out she is wearing a pair of his pajama pants. They are his red-and-black plaid fuzzy pants---well, they're pants on her but on Danny, they're midway down his shins. "You let her wear your favorite pj's?"

He shrugs. "Doctor said she might be out still during the winter, so put her in something warm. Those sure as hell are warm, let me tell you."

"That's so cute, Danny!"

He blushes and murmurs, "I have to take care of my little girl." He grasps one of her hands and squeezes it.

His little girl? "Wait, what do you mean?"

"Oh! I almost forgot to tell you. I adopted her after her previous guardian was ruled unfit to. I wanted to tell you in person instead of over the phone."

"Oh my God...oh my God, that's great!" I squeal, trapping him in a bear hug. I kiss him again and murmur, "You're gonna be a great dad, Danny."

"I hope so. She deserves one, after all she's been through."

We chat for another two hours, talking not only to each other but also to Callie, since she can still hear according to the doctors. It helps keep her brain active. Then we decide to go to dinner. I kiss her cheek and murmur, "See you soon, Callie." I squeeze her hand before taking a few steps back. Danny leans over her and kisses her cheek. Then he murmurs, "Good night, Callie. We'll be back tomorrow. I love you." He runs his hand through her hair a few times before we leave for dinner.

We settle for Italian. We both get a ton of food, since he hasn't eaten in God knows how long and I haven't eaten at all today. He wolfs down everything as if he hasn't eaten at all on his visit to his mum's. For all I know, he hasn't. I don't eat nearly as fast. After dinner's over, we get the check and continue our argument over who's paying. After fifteen minutes, we decide to go Dutch and split the bill, much to Danny's displeasure---he still insists on paying for everything. We leave the restaurant and head to his flat.

We spend the rest of the evening catching up and sipping on wine. After a while, we fall into a comfortable silence, cuddled together on his bed. Soon, I hear Danny's breathing regulate and deepen. I look at him and he's passed out, completely relaxed, mouth open slightly to breathe, chest rising and falling gently. I curl up into him and settle down. It's weird how the contours of our bodies fit each other perfectly. Soon enough, I fall asleep on his chest.
