Darkness {Young Justice}

Chapter 1

It was a dark in the abandon streets of Gotham. The street lights glowed dim and the sidewalk was filled with motionless shadows. Gotham was known for its heroes, the Dark Night or Batman, Nightwing and Robin or Boy Wonder. What they don't know is that a new hero has risen years ago. She's behind them like a shadow, protecting them without their knowledge. It is her duty to protect superheroes from a deadly fate from the shadows ever since that night that changed everything for her.

An evil laugh echoed through the alleyways. A muscular man with a black ski mask covering his face was pointing a gun at a little girl and her family. "Just give me your money and jewelry. No one needs to get hurt."

"H-here." The woman said taking off her diamond necklace and pearl earrings. Her husband took off this golden watch that was passed down from generations to generations and his wallet that had 150 dollars. Their daughter took off her Unexpected Miracles Art Infusion Charm Bangle bracelet that her father had given her for her 6th birthday. They put their stuff on the ground and walked away slowly from it while the thief went to grab it with the gun still pointed at them.

"Thanks for your time." The man's voice was deep and he ran into the darkness, but he didn't even make it four steps. He was punched in the face and was 'reunited' with the light. The man groaned and looked at what had stopped him from escaping.

A snicker was heard and a silhouette was seen. It looked like a female teenager, though he couldn't see the face for there wasn't enough light. "Give it back." The girl said in a serious voice. "Before I teach you a lesson."

"What is a little girl gonna do?" The man asked.

The girl smirked even though it wasn't visible to the masked man, "This." The girl ran towards him, she leaped out of the shadows and punched him square in the face. Her dark blue and black outfit with her black and glitter blue mask, it showed her stomach. The man was knocked out cold and the girl picked up the things he intended to steal. She walked towards the frightened family and gave them their stuff back.

"Thank you." The father said. "For protecting us."

"All in a days work." The girl said retreating to the shadows.

"Wait!" The daughter of the family said and hugged her from behind, "Thank you for saving us. Superhero Lady."

The girl turned around and said, "You can call me Darkness."

"Darkness?" The little girl asked.

"Yes." Darkness said, "Take care..."

"Angela." The girl said.

"Take care, Angela." Darkness said going back into the darkness without being stopped.

"Stop him!" A guard said. Blue Beetle was using himself as a decoy for the others to escape Dark Storm, a new supervillain, who has a fear projection, hypnotism, and Twilight manipulation, and shadow manipulation from using a dangerous weapon he has constructed. Right now, he was winning.

"I'll let you go if you tell me where Darkness is." Dark Storm asked.

"Who?" Blue Beetle asked trying to come up with a plan to get away and wanting to know who Dark Storm was talking about.

"Where is Darkness?!" Dark Storm yelled. When Blue Beetle didn't answer he ordered his 'evil minions' to take Blue Beetle to the cells. One of them knocked him unconscious with a gun and put him in one of the many metal cells that Dark Storm owned.

Dark Storm got a video camera and began taping. "Darkness, come out wherever you are. You wouldn't let Blue Beetle get hurt, would you? I thought so... come to my hideout and give yourself up or else Blue Beetle dies. You have five hours Darkness and I know you don't want anyone else to die."

"Darkness, come out wherever you are. You wouldn't let Blue Beetle get hurt, would you? I thought so... come to my hideout and give yourself up or else Blue Beetle dies. You have five hours Darkness and I know you don't want anyone else to die." Dark Storm finished and he turned off the camera.

'Five hours.' Darkness thought, 'Just five hours? An hour is all I need.' Darkness got all of her gadgets ready before heading off. It only took five minutes and four hours and fifty-five minutes to go. She got on her black motorcycle and rode it off to Dark Storms hide out. His hideout is the Shadow Hollow. It's a cave just two miles away from Gotham. Darkness could save Blue Beetle in a nick of time. She passed the sign the says, 'You are leaving Gotham City.'

When Darkness arrived, she hid her motorcycle in a bush. She rushed inside and avoiding Dark Storm's minions as she continued forward to find Blue Beetle. Darkness had always wanted to stay in the shadows and there were only a group of people who knew about her until today. It was Dark Storm, her nemesis, and... Darkness shook her head to not think about the past. The deeper Darkness went the darker it was, but luckily she has night vision to help her from crashing into anything. The passages ways were covered in cobwebs, cracks were everywhere and fungus was growing in those cracks.

She searched for countless rooms and she continued to look for Blue Beetle. She would not let anyone else die not when she has a chance to save them. She finally found all of the cells were hidden. It was lit by torches and on the end of the corridor of cells was Blue Beetle sitting down a stone bed. He was looking down, but then he looked up.

"Who are you?" He asked wondering who was the silhouette.

"I'm here to help you escape." Darkness said walking slowly out of the shadows. Blue Beetle got a good look at her. Brown wavy hair, blue eyes, blue and black outfit and mask. She could have been 15-17 of age, but it was hard to guess. When she neared the door an evil laugh stopped her.

"I knew you would come, Darkness." Dark Storm said with a gun in his hand. "But where is your companion?"

"Shut up." Darkness said to him getting ready to fight.

Dark Storm just chuckled evilly, "Do you really think you stand a chance? I mean not what happened last-"

"Last time was different." Darkness said.

"Right." Dark Storm said, "I'll give you a chance to beat me in hand and hand combat, but we know who would win."

"That was a long time ago Dark Storm." Darkness said. "Now is different." She began to throw punches at him. 'Left, right, kick, right, kick, left.' Darkness thought about all of her training and hardship she was put through.

"You had gotten better than last time." Dark Storm said rubbing his jaw. "But not good enough." Both of them kicked each other to the stone walls while Blue Beetle just watched. "I'll end this now!" Dark Storm got the gun and pointed it at her, but she didn't care. Darkness got her black boomerang and threw it at Dark Storm, but she didn't aim it at his hand. She aimed it at for the wall behind him and it started to beep faintly. When Dark Storm realized what happened he was too late, but not before taking a shot at Darkness.
