Darkness {Young Justice}

Chapter 14

"That was really sweet." Megan said smiling at the scene Jaime and her had just witnessed.

"She could have killed them, but instead she risked her life to save them." Jaime muttered under his breath.

'That was really courageous. Not that many people would  have done that.' The scarab said to Jaime.

'I know.' Jaime thought. "Most killers would have killed them without a single thought."

"That's how we know she's not a cold-hearted killer." Megan said. Jaime's and Megan's surrounding began to change. The room was black and there was the little version of Darkness. She looked like she was 4 or 5. She was looking in a mirror and was cleaning a scratch on her cheek. Her face was filled with tears and her eyes were puffy. Her hands were covered in blood, but that was the only thing with the scarlet liquid except her the scratch.

"Why?" Darkness asked. "Why did you make me do it? Why did you choose me?"

"We saw something in you." A woman said. Jaime and Megan couldn't see the woman's face because she was in the shadows. "We saw this flame in your eyes and we immediately knew we had to have you. We knew that you would make an amazing killer."

"B-but I never wanted to hurt anyone!" Darkness yelled at the lady.

"No one does." The woman said writing something down. "But you're doing the right thing and you're not going to do missions alone."

"What?" Darkness asked confuse.

"You'll be on a team. A team that I believe will help... strengthen you're weaknesses." The woman said.

"Who are they?" Darkness asked.

"You'll meet them tomorrow in training. For now rest you did a good job." The woman said getting up from the chair. Darkness didn't move as she watched the woman leave her room. When the door closed Darkness opened one of the drawers and took out some kind of cream. The bottle had little yellow note with 'Iddorry cream' on it.

"What's Iddorry Cream?" Jaime asked. He had never heard of Iddorry cream before or Iddorry for that matter.

"I don't know. I never heard of it before." Megan said as they watched Darkness putting the cream on her cut. Darkness was running out of the cream and she knew she would need to make more before she goes on another mission. She knew where to get the Iddorry and it is easily obtainable for her because the plantation was in the agency. There was also a herb called Sorrow Root and it is used for cramps, coughing, and nauseous.

When Darkness was finished she looked at her hands and began to cry again. She muttered under her breath, "I hurt them. It's my fault they're dead." She repeated the words over and over again.

"Can we get out of here?" Jaime asked. He couldn't take it anymore. It was wrong invading her privacy and they have seen nothing but memories. They hadn't found anything useful that can help them answer any of the questions they needed answered.

"You're right. We haven't found anything we need. I guess we just wasted our time then." Megan said taking them out of Darkness' head.

Outside of Darkness' Head

Jaime looked at Darkness, her mask was still on but he knew she looked beautiful underneath her mask. Looking at her no one would have ever guessed that she had to kill other people. She seems different... Jaime didn't know how to explain it and he didn't know if it was a good different or bad. All he needed to do was wait. Wait for Darkness to wake up to find answers to his questions, to his teammates questions, and to find out what's going on in the shadows where the real monsters hide.

"I'm going to tell Nightwing about our... results." Megan said opening the door to leave.

"Okay... I'll stay right here." Jaime said to her. Megan nodded and left the room leaving Jaime alone with Darkness once again. The images of Darkness' past came back to him. The blood, her face and the gun. When the images stopped he looked at the Darkness in front of him. The one who was beaten, the one who had saved him. He could never have believe that the person who saved him was a trained killer.

'It shows that you can't trust someone else appearance and that appearances can be deceiving.' The scarab said to Jaime.

'I know, but if she's a killer then why save me?' Jaime thought.

'I don't know. You'll have to ask her yourself.' The scarab thought. 'But be weary of her. She can't be trusted yet.'

'What if she was forced to become a killer? She didn't kill the family of three. Maybe it's a sign that she was forced to kill.' Jaime thought.

'But she killed the guards.' The scarab said.

'But she said I'm sorry to their dead corpses.' Jaime thought.

'It doesn't matter... She killed people. Their blood is stained on her hands.' The scarab said to him. 'What's wrong with you? Why are you defending her? You don't even know her.'

'I'm not defending her! I'm just trying to think of the possibilities before we do something hasty.' Jaime argued.

'Right.' The scarab said sarcastically. The scarab knew it wasn't just that, but some of it was part of the truth. He was defending her, but Jaime does make a point. They did need to think about all of the possibilities that actually happened. Make theories until they could find an answer.

The door opened and the light that wasn't allowed in the dark room was being invaded by light. The Counselor and a group of Division's movers went inside the room to find Darkness was gone. The chains weren't broken so the idea of Darkness breaking out was definitely not it. What could have happened? Did someone help her escape?

"Go to Dark Storm's room!" The Counselor shouted loudly. If Dark Storm escaped with Darkness then they were in trouble. If one ex-agent was out there wasn't bad enough there are two ex-agents out in the world. Probably plotting to take down Division. They arrived at the door and opened it. The Counselor hoped Dark Storm was still in the room or else she would be in trouble. No one was in the room. Dark Storm's chains were broken. 'Did Dark Storm free Darkness?' The Counselor thought to herself. It seemed like the most probable proposition she could think of. The chains weren't broken in Darkness' room, but here it is. 'How am I going to explain this to the Director?' She thought. She had only failed the Director only once and that was the day Dark Stalker's team escaped. She couldn't prevent them from leaving because they were 'too trained' for her.
