Darkness {Young Justice}

Chapter 2

Dark Storm fell to the ground unconscious, while Darkness was clutching her stomach. She limped over to the cell door and picked the lock as fast as she could for she only had a little bit of time before her legs couldn't support her. The cell door opened and she collapsed to the ground and coughed out blood.

"Get out of here." Darkness said to him while putting pressure on her wound.

"Not without you." Blue Beetle said walking towards her.

"You can't save me it's a waste of time." Darkness said regretfully. She knew she wouldn't make it and him trying would have been all for nothing in the end. "Just go. Please go."

"I'm not taking no for an answer." Blue Beetle said picking her put bridal style. "You saved me, now I have to try and return the favor." Blue Beetle fly and tried to find the quickest way out as possible before Darkness was nothing more than a corpse. Blue Beetle managed to made it out and fly to the nearest hospital. When he arrived a group of surgeons took Darkness out of his hands and he waited for Darkness to come out. He contacted the group and they came right away.

"Blue, what happened?" Nightwing asked.

"When I was captured they asked me where Darkness was." Blue Beetle explained.

"Darkness?" Beast Boy asked.

"She's a superhero like us." Blue Beetle said.

"Then how come we haven't heard about her?" Lagoon Boy asked.

"I don't know." Blue Beetle said.

"Then how could we trust her?" Lagoon Boy said, "I mean for all we know she could be working with the Light."

"She couldn't be. She rescued me when you guys couldn't and now she's in surgery." Blue Beetle said, "If she was working for the light why would she give up her life for it."

"We can't be too sure." Wonder Girl said.

"We'll see when she wakes up." Nightwing said.

"You mean if she wakes up." Lagoon said.

Blue Beetle glared at him. "She will get better Jaime. She has too," Miss Martian or aka Megan.

His eyes soften and he said, "Thank you. I just don't want her to die saving me."

Inside Darkness' head

"Team Alpha, do you see your targets?" A voice in the intercom earpiece.

"Yes, we see them." Shadow said looking at him with her sniper. She was only nine years old like the rest of Team Alpha.

"Night Stalker, Dark Storm and Twilight do your part." The voice said ordering them around.

"Okay." All of them said through the intercom.

"Darkness, you know what to do." The voice said.

"Yes." Darkness said. Her freckles showed in the radiant moonlight. She loaded her m248 and used her grappling hook to get closer to her assigned target. She aimed carefully like she had done in training and calmed her breathing like she was trained to do.

"Begin to shoot..." The voice trailed off. "Now!"

Night Stalker, Dark Storm, Twilight, Shadow and Darkness shot their targets. People in the crowd screamed as all five of the targets fell down. "Targets eliminated."

"Well done Team Alpha." The voice said. "Go to extraction."

"Right." Night Stalker said. Darkness began to head to the extraction point. The sky was filled with stars shining brightly. When everyone arrived they all got onto the truck and their driver started to drive taking the agents home.

All of the five agents stood tall in front of their counselor while she read their reports on the mission. She was a tall, beautiful lady. She had long blonde hair with green eyes and a slight blush, but nothing more. She was the one who they went to to talk about each mission. Or how guilty they felt when they had killed someone. "The mission was successful. Now, leave while I give this report to the Director."

All five of them nodded at the same time and walked out of her office. They went to the lunch room and got some midnight snacks together. All five of them had survived training together and they had learned that in the agency that only way to survive was to work together. They learned their lesson from their formal comrade, her code name was Dusk. Dusk was always a lone wolf, but for her poor choices led her to become cancelled.

Shadow opened the refrigerator door and said, "What do you guys want?"

"Water and apple." Dark Storm said.

"Give me my cut mangoes. They're in the bottom." Darkness said.

"Just water please" Twilight said.

"Nothing, but thanks anyway." Night Stalker said.

Shadow said as she threw the stuff to the right people, "Catch." Everyone who wanted something caught it. Shadow just took out a kiwi out and began peeling off the skin with her dagger. She sat down with the others and they began to talk.

"Another successful mission." Night Stalker said.

"Yeah!" Twilight said. "And no one got hurt."

"Luckily. Team Beta lost two agents yesterday." Dark Storm said.

"What about Omega?" Darkness asked.

"Eliminated." Night Stalker said.

"It feels like every mission we get is getting harder." Shadow said taking a small bite off of her kiwi.

"Of course they are!" Night Stalker said, "These missions have always been dangerous, but never has been like this."

"So..." Twilight said quietly, "What do we do?"

"We continue doing what we are assigned to do." Dark Storm said, "This is the only place that gave us a home. That took us in and out the foster system. We owe them everything, including our lives."

"Yeah..." Shadow said, "But why us? I mean there were some more... fit kids with us at the time."

"It doesn't matter." Night Stalker said. "All that matters is that we're here and alive."

"Yeah... if we keep asking questions then they'll cancel us for sure." Darkness whispered.

Out of Darkness' head

"Nightwing, she's been here for days," Megan asked looking at the girl who still hasn't woken up.

"Megan we need to know if she's working with the Light or not," Nightwing said. "We can't wait for her to wake up."

"But it's invading her priv-" Megan began, but Nightwing interrupted her. "We can't wait."

"Okay." Megan gave in and took Nightwing and herself into the mind of the one known as Darkness.
