'I won't let down my guard. Even if they did save me they are the ones who gave me up to the Director.' Darkness thought. 'They want to know the truth and help save everyone, but they have to learn that they can't save everyone. That they can't save me no matter how hard they try I'm UN-saveable.' She followed Jaime to the kitchen and Megan was taking out ingredients to make something. Looking at the ingredients Darkness concluded that the green girl was going to make a type of dough, but for what? Cookies?
Megan heard footsteps coming into the kitchen and she turned around to see Jaime and Darkness. She gasped and ran towards Darkness. "Jaime! Why didn't you tell me she was awake? I would have brought her clothes!"
"I didn't want to leave her alone," Jaime said.
"Follow me and I'll give you your clothes back," Megan said nicely. "I took out all the blood stains of it." 'Why are they being nice to me? After everything I'd done I don't deserve kindness.' Darkness thought as she followed the green girl. "My name is M'gann M'orzz, but you can call me Megan. It's a human name."
"Okay." Darkness said softly. 'Why is she telling me her name? I thought superheroes kept their names a secret.' She thought silently to herself. 'Why is she trusting me with it? Why is she trusting me at all?' When they walked to where ever Megan was talking Darkness, Darkness took mental notes. She memorized her way from the kitchen and the things they passed. 'I have seen almost everything except the way out.'
"Here we are," Megan said opening the door and lifted my outfit in the air with her power. Most people would freak out of they saw this, but Darkness wasn't like most people. She knew everything was possible they day she was forced to join the agency. "You can change in there if you want." She opened the door and Darkness nodded. Megan closed the door for Darkness and Darkness took off her mask. She carefully changed into her blue and black outfit, and when she was finished she put her mask back on. She opened the door and saw that Megan waited patiently for her. "Let's go and put food in your stomach." They went back the way they came and arrived at the kitchen shortly after.
"Do you like mangoes?" Jaime asked as Megan and Darkness arrived. His question was directed to Darkness and Darkness nodded as she sat down on one of the metal chairs that faced the counter. Jaime walked towards Darkness and placed the cut mangoes in front of her. "Do you want something to put on your mangoes? Like Tapatio or Tajin?" Darkness shook her head.
"You're not much of a talker are you?" Megan asked. Megan hadn't heard Darkness talk more than one word since she woke up. Megan somewhat knew what Darkness had been through, but not all. When Darkness was 'reliving' her memories Megan was right beside her even when Darkness didn't know it. Even though Megan was with Darkness she couldn't understand how Darkness felt to lose all of her friends and be left alone to wonder why them? Why couldn't she had died and the others survive? The only person who could answer those questions were the people who had actually lost their friends and Darkness had. Darkness lost all of them, all at different times and in different places.
Darkness didn't move but stare at the mangoes until she used her hand to grab one. The mango tasted sweet in Darkness' mouth, but that was how she liked them. Every bite of the mango felt like her taste buds were dancing. Darkness wouldn't say this out loud, but it was extremely delicious. "You liked it didn't you?" Megan asked her. 'How did she know?' Darkness thought. "The walls you built up in your mind flickered and left an opening letting me know what you were feeling." 'Noted never let down my guard even when enjoying myself.' Darkness thought to herself. 'I knew they were trying to get information out of me, but I never thought Megan could automatically sensor when I let down my guard to my mind. This is what I was prepared for... never let the enemy be ahead. Always make them think they're ahead and when they get too cocky show them who has the upper hand.'
Darkness heard small footsteps coming into the kitchen. "Megan, did you make some food? I'm hungry." A small green boy went into the kitchen and stopped when he saw Darkness. "Who's she? Is she a new teammate?" He asked and he ran towards her. "I'm Beast Boy, but you can call me Garfield. My powers are turning into many types of animals. What's your name?"
"That's my adopted brother," Megan said. "And she is not a new teammate. She's just..." Megan couldn't find the right words without hurting or insulting Darkness. "Someone who needs our help." 'Or you need my assistance.' Darkness thought as she bit into another piece of mango, but this time she tried not to enjoy it too much. 'She doesn't know what I had been through and all the challenges I had faced. I bet most of these superheroes would have died in training and if they survived that in the field, with guns, bombs, and cancellation hanging over their heads. Most of them would be dead.' Darkness knew the agency was just using their agents. Making them into the best killers around without magic or powers. There were a few experiments for the best team to be implanted with abilities that were supposed to help the agents in the field. Darkness' team got the implants and she had gotten night vision. The agents who were chosen for the implants were only given one power if given more an agent would become too powerful to control and would probably try to take over the agency.
"Cool. What's your name?" Garfield asked again.
Megan sighed seeing that Darkness wasn't in a chatty mood. "Her name is Darkness."
"Darkness?" Garfield asked. 'Here it comes.' Darkness thought to herself. "That's a cool name. Darkness. I like it!" Darkness was shocked by his reaction to her name. Most people would have asked, 'That's not a real name' or say other hateful comments about her name. It might not be her real name, but it was all she had that was close to being a real name.
"Thanks." Darkness said lowly to him. That never happened to her before and it felt... different, good different.

A knock was heard from the other door and a low voice said, "Come in." The door opened and the Counselor came in. "What do you want?" The Director asked coldly. He was in a foul mood ever since Dark Storm and Darkness had escaped.
"I just wanted to ask you something about Agent Scarlet." The Counselor said.
"Well?" The Director asked impatiently. "I don't have all day."
"I recommend her for cancellation." She said.
"And why is that?" He wanted to know why the Counselor had come to him with this request. Division only cancels agent who hadn't demonstrated their skills in training or if they are defiant. The last time an agent was defiant was... Agent Dusk. "Her record shows no recent failures."
"It's because she's doing so well. She's might turn into another Darkness and we don't need that happening now." The Counselor tried to reason with him.
"Why do you think that?" He asked her.
"I just have a feeling." The Counselor said to him. She knew it wasn't reasonable, but she couldn't shake it off. She also felt it the day Darkness and her team tried to escape.
"That's very illogical even for you, but I do trust your judgment. I'll decide if we should cancel her or not." The Director said. "You may go now." The Counselor nodded and closed the door as she left the room leaving the Director alone. He sighed and rubbed his temple. 'If I do cancel Agent Scarlet how should I do it? I'll have to keep a close eye on her for a couple of days before I come to a final conclusion.' He didn't want to kill one of Division's best agent, but what if the Counselor was telling the truth? He can't act too hasty to this dilemma. To him, all of this is like a game of chess all of his decisions have to be logical even if it means sacrificing some of his agents.
