Darkness {Young Justice}

Chapter 4

"Get us out of here." Nightwing ordered.

"Okay." Megan said as they left the memory that had made Megan shed tears.

Out of Darkness' head

"She's not an enemy, but that still leaves some questions unanswered." Nightwing said.

"I feel sorry for her." Megan said. "All the pain she had to go through and she looked about 11 or 12 years old."

"Yes, but who trained her and why?" Nightwing asked looking at the masked girl. "How much time where we in there?"

"Thirty minutes. Why?" Megan asked.

"Blue Beetle should be coming back soon to check up on her." Nightwing said. "We need to get out of here before then."

"You go. I'll stay here in case she wakes up." Megan said and Nightwing nodded as he headed towards the door. Megan put Darkness' hand in her own. 'All of the things she had been through and those were only four memories Nightwing and I went through. How many more of those terrible memories are there?' Megan thought as she looked at Darkness.

The door opened again and Blue Beetle walked in. He asked, "How is she?"

"She hasn't woken up yet." Megan said looking at Blue Beetle. "But I think she'll wake up soon."

"Hopefully." Blue Beetle said.

Megan felt a movement on her hand and she looked at Darkness. Darkness' eyes fluttered open and she looked around the room trying to find out where she was. She felt a hand on her hand and she immediately took hers back. She rose up quickly and turned to see a Megan and Blue Beetle. Suddenly, she felt pain on her stomach and she hugged her stomach as she was in pain.

"Take it easy, chica." Blue Beetle said running towards Darkness.

"W-why?" Darkness asked in a hoarse voice.

"Why what?" Blue Beetle asked.

"Why save me?" Darkness asked wanting to know the answer. He choose to save her instead of taking Dark Storm to prison. 'If only he knew all of the awful things I did. He wouldn't have saved me.' She thought.

"Because it was the right thing to do." Blue Beetle said. "And you were going to die if I didn't help you."

Darkness sighed as she already knew she would lose the battle. She calmed herself down as she was suppose taught to and said in a unflustered voice. "Thank you for saving me. I really appreciate it." 'Lies. All Lies!' She thought. 'I wanted to die with them!'

"It was my job." Blue Beetle said.

Darkness removed the covers off of her body and luckily the doctors didn't put a hospital gown. She jumped off the bed and asked, "How long have I been here?"

"A couple of days." Blue Beetle asked. "Why?"

"No reason." Darkness lied. "When do I get to leave?"

"When the team comes," Megan said.

"Team?" Darkness asked confused and slightly terrified. 'Could it be? No, they can't find me not with my training... Unless...' Darkness thought panicking in her mind, but looking extremely calm on the outside.

"Yeah, the Justice League." Blue Beetle said. "What did you think I was talking about?"

"Nothing!" Darkness said. "I'm just want to go home already." 'I need to leave asap. If I stayed here for too long they'll find me and try to find my safe house. I won't let the others sacrifice go to waste.' Darkness thought as she planned an escape if they left the room.

"They're here!" Megan said. "You'll be happy to see them!"

"If happy means devastated." Darkness muttered.

The door opened and more superheroes came inside the room. They were Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman. "So this is the person we heard about?" Wonder Woman asked.

"Who are you?" Batman asked.

"I'm Darkness." Darkness said hoping they'll just hurry up. 'I don't have time for this!' She thought.

"What is your real name?" Superman asked.

"Why should I tell you?" Darkness said. "I mean I should have to choice to who I reveal my identity. Not you deciding who I tell my secret." 'And I don't know it.' She thought.

"Who do you work for?" Batman asked.

"None of your business." Darkness said feeling her hostility radiating off of her.

"It is our business!" Superman yelled.

"It actually isn't." Darkness said glaring at them. "Don't worry, I promise to stay in the dark where I belong." Darkness ran towards the window and opened it in a hurry. She jumped out and used her grappling hook that was hidden in her outfit. She swung onto it till her feet it the ground. Darkness need to go back for her motorcycle and then off to her safe house. Away from the Light, Dark Storm, the agency, Young Justice, and the Justice League. With all of her hard drives, soft wares, gadgets, guns and ammo were. Darkness ran towards the dark alleys of Gotham trying to get away from the sunlight. After she had gotten her name she was trapped in the darkness, alone, where no can can console her. As Darkness had said when everything she loved was taken away from her, "This is my darkness. Nothing anyone says can console me." It was true she was alone in the darkness and darkness she became.

She arrived outside of Dark Storm's hide out and got her motorcycle. She drove it back to her safe house which was called Shadow Isle. It was a white five story mansion with a house in the backyard. There was a little pool and it's in the forest. No one knows about the mansion and the agency had abandoned it a long time ago so basically, she was hiding in plain sight. Dark Storm never knew where we were going to go after escaping the agency so he couldn't track her down. She opened the door and locked it as she closed it from behind.  All the curtains were closed so no light could touch the darkness in this room, her darkness where her demons hid in the shadows. She went to her room on the fifth floor. The inside of the mansion was black to make it look darker. On the ceiling of Darkness' room, it had glowing stars. They are the only light source in her room. Stars can't shine without darkness and it's true without darkness people wouldn't be able to see how beautiful the stars are.

Darkness climbed on her queen sized bed. It was comfortable and she laid there till her eyes closed on their own. She slept in the daytime and was wide wake in the night. That's how she was trained to be, Team Alpha's operations were at night and the only reason they would be awake in the daytime was that of a funeral of a comrade or an entire team.
