Jiyuu's POV

The moment we entered the carriage, I could sense that something's bound to happen.

And it's not good.

I couldn't use the Kinabukasan spell, a rule restricts me from using the same spell again within three days.

The carriage bumped along the trail, and I stayed silent, lost in thought throughout the travel.

What is going to happen?

"You look strange." the king noted.

Instead of saying a comeback that would silence him, I stared out the window, directing my thoughts to the amber and tangerine hues of the sunset painting the view outside the glass.

I'm okay, I thought.

What could possibly go wrong?

The carriage picked up speed suddenly, and I lurched forward, falling out of my seat.

"Takeda! Slow down!" the king yelled through an opening.

Something silver passed through the opening, and scarlet trickled down the king's left cheek.

We were being ambushed.

The door opened, and a masked man was revealed, holding a knife.

I thought fast, even though my heart was hammering in my chest and my breathing hitched.

"There's no escape." the masked man said.

The king drew his sword and attempted to pierce through him.

But it turned into a duel, knife clashing against sword.

Dagitab(1), I whispered and snapped my fingers.

A bullet was conjured out of thin air and traveled at the speed of light, and a buzz of electricity surged through the bullet.

It pierced the bandit's chest, and he fell to the ground, electrocuted and wounded.

"Let's go!" I said, and pulled the King out of the moving carriage, and we tumbled into a forest.

He looked at me, eyes evidently filled with concern.

"Oi, are you alright?" he asked.
"I'm okay." I answered.

At least I thought I was.
----------

I dragged my feet across the mass  of twigs and leaves, my feet exhausted from the long walk.

Darkness blanketed the forest, the moon's illumination our only light. The two of us were walking for hours, trying to find a way out of this forest.

Unfortunately so, the spell that I need can only work in broad daylight.

"We can find our way back tomorrow. We should find shelter to stay for the night." he suggested.

I reluctantly agreed, and we trudged through the woods to find shelter.

Then, our eyes set upon a cave.

We ran to it, my mind screaming internally for the luck we have.

Yet, upon close inspection, the entrance was blocked, by stones of various sizes.

"It's blocked." the king said sadly.
"Did you forget that I'm a Mahika?" I said.

I laid my right hand on the stones, and recited the spell.

Magiba(2)

The snap of my fingers resonated through the forest, and in an instant, the stones crumbled and revealed the entrance.

The moment we entered the cave, I heard a voice.

Ginising mo kami sa aming mahimbing na tulog, kailangan mong magdusa.(3)

The voice echoed in my mind, increasing its volume as it repeated, each statement louder than the next. It gave me a splitting headache, and I pressed  my hands against my ears to stop hearing them.

But it never stopped.

"Make it stop!" I yelled, and fell to my knees.

Magdusa ka. Magdusa ka! MAGDUSA KA!!!(4)

"Hindi!!(5)" I yelled again.
"Jiyuu!" I heard him shout and run to me.

The next thing I knew, darkness took over my being.
--------

Mahika.

Sino ka?(6)

The surroundings were shrouded with an ivory aura. A woman in white was in front of me, her long dark hair flowing behind her. Her face was hidden by the blinding light.

Gusto mo bang mabuhay ng mapayapa, Mahika?(7)

I looked at her, her hand outstretched to me.

I wanted a peaceful life. A life where our kind was respected.

Isang buhay na maginhawa, Mahika. Isang buhay na walang problema.(8)

Oo.(9)

The maiden stretched her hand to me, closer, as if beckoning me to take her hand.

Hawakan mo ang aking kamay.(10)

Ano ang iyong pangalan?(11)

The maiden seemed to laugh, and said to me,

Mas mabuti na hindi mo na malaman.(12)

I hesitantly reached out to her hand. And I grabbed it.

And I thought I saw the woman smirk.
------------

My eyes opened, and instantly I saw the King, his eyes filled with concern.

Yet, I pushed that concern away, and concentrated on the burning anger inside me.

The burning desire to kill him.

I looked at him, straight in the eye, and grabbed his collar roughly.

"Die, Kageyama Tobio."
