Kageyama's POV

"There's a message from the Hukbo, sir!"

Hinata dashed toward me, holding a silver platter that held a letter, with eyes that held a hint of worry.

My fingers brushed against the parchment, trembling as it did so.

I gulped as I broke the seal, and took out the letter that would foretell what Karasuno would become in their rebellion.

Salutations to you, King Kageyama Tobio,

We know of your knowledge of our recent invasion of Sendai.

Are you scared yet?

We shall attack Miyagi in the next fifteen days. If we get impatient, we shall do the invasion on the night of the Starlight Ball.

Stop the discrimination. Stop it.

That's all we ask of you.

If you don't halt the emnity between us and the Mataas, you can kiss your precious kingdom goodbye.

Sincerely,
Mahika Dilim

They're going to attack Miyagi.

The Probinsya(1) next to the Kapitolyo.

What am I going to do?

"What are we going to do, Your Highness? We can't just eliminate the castes immediately, Civil War will ensue if we do so." said Hinata.

I stayed silent for a while, and gripped the letter tightly in frustration.

Hinata's right, the last time someone tried to eliminate the castes was in the reigning period of my father.

And it was total chaos.

We almost suffered an economic depression because of that.

And then my father never attempted to do such a thing like that.

And so will I.

"Why the long face, king?"

There she was, leaning against the doorway of the throne room, smirking as she looked at me in my helpless state.

Her shoes clicked against the marble floor as she made her way toward me, and snatched the letter out of my hand, nearly ripping it in the process.

"Jiyuu!" I chided.

She ignored me and quickly read the letter.

Jeez, she wasn't that helpless girl I comforted three nights ago anymore.

"Fight fire with fire." she said, as she gave me back the letter.
"What?" I asked, hoping that she would clarify her answer.

She crossed her arms, and sighed, probably exasperated at my idiocy.

"Mahika Blanca are far more superior than Mahika Dilim." she said.

What does she mean?

I probably look like a fool right now, looking at her confused as she casually gave out a simple but riddle-filled answer.

"And so?" I asked again.

She sighed once more, and rubbed her temples as she listened to my rather idiotic question.

"I just so happen to be a Mahika Blanca."

Now, I understand.
----------

"So, you're planning to fight them alone?!" I yelled.

Her eyes, filled with rage, turned to me.

How is she going to fight an Armed Force of Mahika Dilim single-handedly?!

Is she trying to prove something?

"I can manage fighting them single-handedly without any help, thank you very much." she said, words filled with burning wrath.
"But—" I started to protest, but she cut me off immediately.
"You asked for my help, you comply with what I say. And I say, I fight alone."

Fight alone? What if she gets hurt? What if she—

"I won't get hurt, King." she said.
"You will!" I contradicted.
"I won't. End. Of. Story."

Then, she started to walk out.

I ran after her.

I can't afford her getting hurt. I don't want her to die in battle.

Why am I feeling this way, anyway?!

"I don't want you to die!" I yelled at her.

Shock was spread all over her visage, as I said those words.

It's true, I don't want her to die.

"Why?" she asked casually.

I couldn't find the right words to say, so I stayed silent.

Why is she asking me why I don't want her to die?

Why can't I find words to answer her question?

Why?

"Do you... by any chance.. have... feelings for me?" she continued.

Honestly, I don't know either.

Why?

Why?

Do I really have.. feelings for her?

Argh, I don't know anymore!!!

I don't know why I am feeling this way, I don't know why I am so confused.

I don't really know myself anymore.

When I didn't answer, she left me, confused and connecting the pieces of the enigma I started and failing again and again.

With a three-lettered question resonating in my mind.

Why?
