Kageyama's POV
The scent of tea was infused in the room, giving me a sense of comfort.
The woman ordered me to sit in one of the worn out chairs, and the younger lady gave me a steaming cup of tea.
"My name is Narumi Haruka. Narumi Jiyuu's mother." the older woman said.
The older woman had soft violet eyes, and short chocolate brown hair with gray streaks. She had a striking resemblance to Jiyuu, making me remember her.
"Narumi Kaname. Jiyuu's older sister." said the young lady.
Narumi Kaname had the same violet eyes as her mother and sister, but had long jet black hair. She looked like a mix of Jiyuu and someone else.
I stared at my cup of tea, looking at my murky reflection in the brown liquid.
"I know you took care of my Jiyuu. I knew everything about your care for my daughter. Thank you." said Haruka.
Her words were genuine and welcoming, no hint of spite toward me. Her eyes, soft, showed the truth and held kindness.
"I saw what risks you were taking to find my sister. You aren't such a bad man after all, even though you're a Maharlika." Kaname said quietly.
"Your sister means a lot to me." I blurted out.Silence. Their violet orbs bore into me, making me nervous and making me wish that I took back those words.
Saying what I felt at a time like this... seriously, why am I such an idiot?
I downed the tea in one gulp, in order to lessen the awkwardness of the atmosphere.
"Your Highness, I see the genuine feelings of your heart."
Kaname shattered the deafening silence with a smile, making me blush at her statement.
Mahika can really see the truth, don't they?
They had genuine smiles on their faces, they were people I can trust.
I can tell they loved Jiyuu very much.
"Your Majesty, you may be a Maharlika, but that doesn't mean that we despise you. We are grateful for you taking care of my daughter."
Haruka mumbled incoherent words, and snapped her fingers. She closed her eyes for a few moments.
Kaname looked on at her mother's actions, seeming curious as I was. Finally, Haruka opened her eyes.
"My lord, my daughter is held captive in Aoba Johsai."
----------The horse's gallops resonate throughout the wood, synchronizing with the quickening pace of my heart. The boundary was up ahead, beckoning me to enter.
I'm so close to finding her.
"Thank you." I muttered.
They may not be able to hear my gratitude, but I said it anyway.
I'll come for you, Jiyuu. I'll save you from them. You'll be safe with me, as I promised your mother and sister.
I'll search everywhere for you, even if it means going into enemy territory and risking my life to find you.
The scenery changed, oranges hues morphed into turquoise, and that's when I knew.
I was in Aoba Johsai.
------------
Sword clashed against mine, the greeting I got when my horse galloped into the enemy territory.
But I took them down, and easily got past them.
Aoba Johsai flourished, unlike my Kingdom, which slowly sank into depression because of various battles.
Soldiers caught up to me, but my horse galloped faster, and lost them in the forest easily.
I saw the palace up ahead, hidden in the mess of trees, flecked in turquoise and ivory stone.
Soon, I was in front of a massive oak door, guarded by none other than Kindaichi.
"Kageyama?!" he said, voice laced with shock.
"Kindaichi." I muttered.I jumped down from my horse, my sword's blade gleaming in the sunlight.
The metal clanged with contact. Parries exchanged, the brawl of sword against sword began.
I won't lose to him.
I have to save her.
An extremely powerful parry made Kindaichi's sword fall to the ground, and before he knew it, I pierced his side with my blade.
"Ka-ge-yama.." he said with difficulty.
I glared at him one final time, before withdrawing my sword from his side and entering the palace to find her.
Nothing will stop me from finding her, be it battalions of soldiers or the Royal Guard.
-------------Three soldiers of the Royal Guard greeted me in the dungeons.
Hanamaki, Matsukawa, and Kyoutani.
Elites of the Royal Guard.
"Karasuno's King, eh?" said Hanamaki.
"King Oikawa will be pleased to know that he's here." Matsukawa sniggered.
"Just shut up and stop him!" Kyoutani yelled, glaring at them.Hanamaki gave the first blow, Matsukawa almost pierced my chest, while Kyoutani clashed his sword against mine. I fought them, parries calculated. One wrong move and I'm dead.
I wounded Kyoutani while the two were fighting me, but he still fought with full force.
I panted as we continued to exchange blows, swords in a dance of war. I wasn't going to give up, not now.
Even though crimson stained my arms and decorated my legs. Even though I was tired.
I'm still going to fight no matter what.
"Give it up already!" Kyoutani yelled.
"Never."My statement caught him off guard, and I took the chance to make his sword fall to the ground. Hanamaki and Matsukawa continued to fight, but I defeated them, blood spilling from their wounds, the echoes of the clangs of their swords falling to the ground resonated in my mind.
My footsteps echoed in the empty hallways, cells empty.
Then I stopped, seeing someone in iron shackles inside a lone cell, lying on the cold concrete, fresh tallies on the wall indicating the days the person was there.
Then I knew it.
The moment I saw the person, I knew it.
I found her.
It was all worth it. All the days I have traveled, all the questions, all the battles, all the wounds.
Finally.
"Jiyuu!"
She looked at me, eyes in shock, as she stretched her hand, reaching out to me.
"Ka...ge..ya...ma.."
