Kaylee's pov

As I continued to walk, I felt guilty, I regretted letting my sister going off on her own. Even if we got into a fight.

I don't know where she was, but I had to find her. I turned around and started going back. I know it was dangerous but I needed to check to see if Quinn was alright.

*20 minutes later*

I made it to the crossbow shop and the front door was broken into. I quietly opened the door enough so I could get in.

"Quinn?" I called out. No response. I frantically looked around the store for my sister.... But she wasn't there.

"Dammit" I said to myself. I was heading for the front door but something caught my attention. It was a belt with a tomahawk in it. I picked it up and examined it.

"Score" I strapped it to my waist and grabbed a pocket knife and placed it in my boot. I walked out and saw at least 5 of those dead, walking things. Walkers. That sounds about right.

I ran past them and headed straight into the woods. I ran and ran and ran until me feet gave out and I fell to the ground. I screamed.

I had to find my sister.

I had to.

I heard the crunching of leaves but I was to tired to sit up. The footsteps became louder, they were coming towards me.

A boy with a grey beanie and a blue sweater hovered over me.

"Hey, we should get out of here" he said to me.

"I'm to tired" I said, still out of breath. He bent down and picked me up bridal style.

"What're doing?" I asked.

"There's more of those things coming, I can't just leave you out here" he told me.

"At least buy me dinner first" I joked. He laughed a bit. "So who are you?" I asked.

"Luca" he smiled, "what about you?"

"Luca" he smiled, "what about you?"

"Kaylee" I replied.

"What were you doing out here on your own?" He questioned. I sighed.

"I freaked on my sister and she left" I told him. He looked down at me.

"I'll help you find her" he said with a warm smile.

"Thanks"

It was dark out and we were hiding in this cave thing that we found. I was playing with the zipper on my sweater when Luca asked "have you had to kill one yet?"

"Yeah, that's kinda how me and my sister split" I explained.

"Didn't understand?" He asked.

"Nope" I said, poping the 'p'.

"My brother didn't understand, how much younger is your sister?"

"10 minutes" I said flatly.

"Wait, 10 minutes? You guys twins?" He asked. I nodded my head.

"She has darker hair and darker eyes, that's the only difference" I said. My stomach growled and I grabbed it. Luca went into his bag and pulled out an apple.

"Oh, thanks" I took it from his hands and took a bite out of it.

"This is gonna sound bad.... But a part of me doesn't want to find her" I said, staring out of the cave.

"Why?" He asked interested.

"It's just, we were close.... But we weren't the same, I lied for years to keep her safe, to keep her happy. I thought they were little white lies, but they're bigger than I thought" I admitted.

"How did you lie to her?" He asked. I sighed.

"I just..... We were homeschooled 'cause we were 'bullied'. I never wanted to be homeschooled. I had friends, she just didn't know, some of my friends were the people who...... Bullied her. I didn't want to be friends with them but we were. They weren't assholes to me. I mean... There was one person, but they weren't affecting me as much as they were affecting her" I explained, turning to him.

"Maybe you should tell her" he suggested.

"I don't know, she'll hate me"

"She's your sister" he said.

"And, she already hates" I said looking down. I felt his arms wrap around me. I looked up to see his face only inches away from mine. I quickly turned away and took another bite of the Apple before I threw it away.

"Night, see ya in the morning" I said before lying down, using my bag as a pillow.

***

I woke up to the blinding sun. I sat up and looked around. Luca was gone. I grabbed my bag and ran out of the cave. I looked around but saw nothing.

Until a walker grabbed me from behind and I fell. I struggled to keep it off of me. It's teeth were chomping, trying to take a chunk out of me.

"KAYLEE?!" I heard Luca yell.

"KILL IT!" I shouted back. Blood poured out of its mouth and onto my face. I was about to give way when it was killed and it fell on top of me.

I pushed it off and stood up.

"Thanks" I said, "where were you?"

"Hunting" he explained.

"You? Hunting?" I questioned.

"Yeah, why?"

"I don't know, you just don't look like the type to hunt" I said. He shrugged his shoulders and we began to walk again.

The blazing sun burning our skin.
