[16] He's not my dad

Kaylee's pov

"Why did the world go to shit?" I asked no one in particular. Glenn, Daryl, Maggie and I were sitting in the living room.

"Watch 'yer mouth" Daryl said, leaning against the doorway. I glared at him before replying "don't tell me what to do, I'm not your kid"

I walked out of the room and went to go and see Carl. Quinn was sitting right next to him.

"Hey" I said, stepping through the doorway.

"Hi" Quinn said, turning to look at me.

"Can I talk to him for a second?" I asked. She nodded and exited the room. I watched before sitting down and looking at Carl.

"Well... I see you guys are getting along" I laughed.

"Yeah," he chuckled, "so... We haven't really caught up since this started"

"There's not much to say," I sighed, "the worlds fucked up now.... Sorry" I had forgot that he didn't really like when I swore.

"It's fine... You're right" he replied. He smiled at me but it turned to a frown when there was a scream. My head whipped around and I ran out of the room. Glenn, Rick, Lila, Daryl, Quinn and Maggie ran by me and I followed. We got outside and looked around to see nothing.

"AHHHHH" there was another scream. I ran around the house before anyone could and there was a scene. I pulled out my gun pulled the trigger. The walker was pushed off and Lily appeared. She had a huge chunk out of her neck.

"LILY!" Lila screamed. She ran to her sister and dropped to her knees. I felt warm liquid roll down my cheek as I looked at her. She couldn't do anything.

"Lily?" Daryl questioned coming around the corner. He dropped his bow and ran to her. He lifted her into his arms and silently cried.

"Daryl... You know what we have to do" Glenn spoke up. Daryl ignored him and kept holding Lily.

"Daryl" Rick said sternly. He sprang to his feet and came face to face with Rick. At this point everyone was outside, watching what was going down.

"That's my little girl. I can't kill her" he said.

"She's bit... I'm sorry, but we have to. You know that" Rick replied. I stopped listening and looking at an unconscious Lily. I wiped my eyes that were filled with tears and brought my gun up. I aimed it at her head and Rick and Daryl were still arguing. I turned my head away and squeezed my eyes shut as I pulled the trigger.

I opened them back up and Lily had a fresh bullet hole inside her head.

"What the hell!" Daryl screamed as he ran to Lily.

"Daryl it-" I began to say but he got back up and looked at me.

"Screw off, maybe there's a cure. Maybe we could've saved her. BUT YOU RUINED THAT" he yelled.

"Daryl, back up. You don't need to talk to her like that. She's a kid" Rick told him, stepping in front of me. I looked over to Quinn to see her quietly sobbing.

"Yeah, and killed my daughter... She killed her sister" he said the last part in a whisper, I could almost not here it.

"She was gonna die, you know it Daryl. Stop acting like an idiot and grow up. You're too stupid to see what the real world is. You all are.. Can't you see it? This is the new world. People are gonna die. We're gonna die. Your daughters" I said, looking from him to the rest of the group. I began to walk away but Quinn grabbed my arm.

"Why'd you say that to him? He's our dad" Quinn said in a whisper.

"It's his fault for leaving mom and us. He's not my dad. I don't need him in my life" after that I stormed off and Glenn followed.

"Kaylee, you alright?" Glenn asked, putting his hand on my shoulder. I jerked my shoulder out of his grasp.

"No I'm not" I snapped.

"I-I'm sorry"

"I don't care about anything anymore. Daryl is an asshole that left my mom when Quinn and I were born. Now he expects me to forgive him. I rather you take care of me" I told him. I walked back into Hershel's house and slumped down onto the couch. I buried my head into one of the pillows and just cried. He doesn't deserve to be our dad after everything. I don't want him to be our dad. I trust Glenn and only Glenn. Daryl can't get my forgiveness back. He'll just have to deal with.
