[10] Gone?

Kaylees pov
Couple days later (they're on the highway)

"We gotta find them" I said aloud, looking around the group.

"We know, we will" Rick confirmed.

"Then why are we sitting around here doin' nothing" I yelled.

"Sweetie, you need to calm down" Lori said. I glanced to her before looking back at Rick.

"Whatever" I stormed off and sat down on the tailgate of the truck. Carl followed and did the same.

"We'll find them" he reassured me. I looked down at my hands and sighed.

"It's been a couple days and we haven't" I said, not taking my eyes away from my hands.

"I'm just gonna go talk to someone" I said getting up and slowly walking over to Glenn. I heard Carl sigh. I dragged my tired feet until I was right in front of Glenn.

"Hey" he said. He was trying to get into a car with a locked door. I pulled out my knife and held it out.

"Kaylee, what're you doing?" He asked, with worry and confusion in his voice.

"Move" I demanded. He listened and stepped back, allowing me to step forward, which is what I did. I slid my knife between the doors window and the door frame. I moved it around for about a minute before I found the spot I needed. I lifted up and watched the cars lock lift as well. I turned to Glenn with a smile.

"Kaylee, how'd you-" he couldn't even finish his sentence.

"Get what you need" I laughed. I walked to the car that was behind Glenn's and saw that it wasn't locked. I looked through the windows to see if there were any walkers but there wasn't. I opened the car door and crawled around the backseat, looking around for something. I searched the ground of the car to find nothing. I sighed while backing up a bit.

Before I could do anything someone grabbed me from behind and covered my mouth so I wouldn't scream, I was thrown under the car and the person came with me. I turned to see Glenn. He put his finger up to his lips, informing me to be quiet. I looked around from under the car and saw many staggering feet walk by us. I turned back to Glenn with fear all over my face, he brought me into a hug. Glenn has been caring for me for the last couple days and it's felt like he was a dad figure for me, and at that moment I realized he cared for me like one.

The walkers continued to walk by until they were all gone. I pulled away from Glenn's protective grasp and looked around and couldn't see any more. I looked to a car that was only a bit ahead of us, Lily and Sophia crawled out. I crawled out as well.

When I stood up there were two walkers heading for Sophia and Lily. They screamed as the walkers chased them down the side of the highway and into the woods. Rick got out from under the car and ran after them. I stood there in shock, everyone else crawled out from under the cars and Lori was hugging Carol to comfort her. We all stood there, not really sure what to do. Daryl crawled out last and booked it into the woods for his little girl.

I hope they come back safe.

It had been a while, Daryl and Rick came back.... But without Sophia and Lily. Me, Carl, and Lila were all sitting around the rv. Carl was trying to get Lila to stop crying but we couldn't.

"What was that?" Someone asked, I wasn't really sure who.

"Herd, that sounds about right" Shane said. I stood up and walked to the little area where they were all talking.

"This gives us more of a reason to go out. Quinn, Luca, Sophia and Lily are missing.... We need to find them" I said, a little annoyed that we hadn't left earlier to find Luca and Quinn.

"We can't have everyone going out. Daryl and I will go out again tomorrow" Rick told me.

"What if they're hurt?" I asked, "what if they're dead? Every person out there, someone in this group loves them. Do you want them to die?"

"No, but we can't risk it, Luca and Quinn can survive on their own and Lily and Sophia got each other for the night, we'll go first thing in the morning" with that he walked away. I huffed before walking back to Carl and Lila.

(Next day)

"We can help too" Carl argued.

"Fine, but you stay by our side" Lori finally gave into Carl's begging, behind her back we high fived each other. Carol was standing at her car, we wrote a little note for Sophia and Lily and put out some food for them if they came back.

We began to walk into the woods and I couldn't wait to see Luca and Quinn again.

I walked up next to Glenn and walked with him for a bit.

"Hey Kaylee" he said.

"Hi" I said back, "I have a question" I said.

"What is it?" He asked. I hesitated for a moment.

"Do you love me....... Like a dad would?" I looked up to him with my light blue eyes.

"Uh... I... Yeah, if you need anything you can come to me, ya know, 'till you find your parents" he said, sounding somewhat nervous.

"I won't find them" I sighed, looking down at the ground.

"Well..... I'm here for you Kaylee"
