Color Outside The Lines (l.s)

Chapter Twenty

When December rolls around, harry doesn't know what he's more excited for, Louis birthday or Christmas.

At the moment, Harry, Ellory and Lottie were walking around the mall looking for christmas and birthday gifts for louis. When harry walked into a toy store to pick up some gifts for Ellory for christmas, he leaves her with Lottie and goes inside, grabbing a cart and piling it high with everything imaginable, from stuffed animals to musical toys and even a star projector for her room. He bought it all, spending a tremendous amount of money on the child who wasn't even one yet, who probably wouldn't even play with any of these toys.

He left the store pushing the cart out to the car, and putting all the toys in before returning to the mall and finding Lottie and Ellory where he left them in the food court. Harry spends some time in the bookstore, buying himself a few books before returning to the task of finding gifts for Louis.


In the end he ends up buying louis a wireless phone charger and a blue Ripstik, because he's been mentioning them for a while now. He feels this isn't enough for Louis though so he goes all out and buys a brand new mac for him, because louis was currently using an old computer that was way past its prime. Lottie thinks its ridiculous for harry to spend this much money on louis but harry shrugs and continues on shopping, buying things for his mother and sister as well as louis mother and siblings before returning home, leaving Lottie to finish her shopping before.

When harry gets home, Louis is sitting on the couch watching TV and harry stops dead in his tracks fumbling to hide the things in his hands all while holding his daughter.

"Umm louis!" he says enthusiastically and louis looks at him weird


"Umm harry!" he repeats as harry continues to struggle "Do you need help" he asks getting up but harry pushes back against the door shaking his head


"Um, no but could you go in the other room for a few minutes?" He asks and louis nods confusedly, before leaving for the other room, reaching out for Ellory before he goes. Harry begins to bring the things in, hiding louis gifts and leaving the rest out so he and louis can wrap them later. When he goes back downstairs, he sits on the couch and calls out to Louis, who comes back into the room carrying Ellory and sits beside him.


"So what was that all about?" he asks and harry smiles

"Oh nothing" harry unhelpfully supplies making louis frown. "Can you help me wrap some of Ellory's christmas presents?" he asks "Its time for her nap anyway's"

Louis nods and they put Ellory down before going into their room and beginning to wrap. They're through most of it when Louis reaches over and puts a bow on top of harry's scarf-covered head, making him sigh and rolls his eyes with a smile. Then he takes a bow and sticks it right on louis forehead making him close his eyes momentarily trying to contain his laughter, so he would seem unamused or upset but it doesn't work and harry sees right through it, but it isn't hard to, not when louis bursts out laughing, both of them trying to wrap gifts laughing to kill themselves until their stomachs hurt and harry can barely breath. He takes a few minutes to calm down before they resume wrapping and when they're done a few hours later and Louis leaves the room to feed Ellory, harry gets up and locks the door, taking out louis gifts to wrap them. When he's done he piles all the gifts in the corner and flops back on the bed sighing deeply before falling asleep.


When Ellory is fed, Louis goes back to his room, and upon seeing the closed door knocks, wondering if harry is doing something he doesn't want him to see. When there is no response he tries to open the door, and when he realizes its locked he begins to worry


"Harry?" he calls out, gaining no response from inside the room "Harry!" he calls out banging on the door 

"Harry open the door please!" he calls "Or at least answer me" he adds as an after though. He sighs and Goes downstairs pulling a little silver poker meant for turkeys out of the drawer and then he goes back to his room, picking the old-fashioned lock easily, gaining access to the room. When he sees harry lying there he panics, not realizing he's asleep. He puts Ellory on the floor, and she picks up a bow and begins to play with it while louis goes to harry. He climbs onto the bed and shakes harry, who wakes with a start, looking at louis confused then realization hits him like a brick. 

"Harry! You scared the absolute shit out of me!" Louis says leaning forwards and resting his head on harry's chest.
