It was a bright Saturday morning in Downtown City. Most people were most likely sleeping in.
With the exception of a certain teenager.
Vinnie Terrio was up and early, practicing a dance number that he has been trying to perfect for weeks. However, there was only one problem, the final portion of the dance is what always threw him off. The quick beat made it seem impossible to perfect."This time I know I'll do it right!" He said to himself, beginning to dance the number for what it seemed like the millionth time. However, when it came to the last part, he accidental my tripped on his own feet, landing face flat on the floor.
"Ugh I'm never going to get this right!" He said aloud. He was ready to give up. As soon as he stood up, there was a knock on his bedroom door.
"It's open!"
The door slowly opened, revealing Sunil Nevla, his best friend.
"I apologize for my sudden intrusion at this time in the morning, my friend!" Sunil nervously chuckled."Nah don't worry about it, Sunil! I wasn't doing anything important..." He said under his breath, still disappointed in not being able to get the dance steps right.
"Oh very well! I was wondering if perhaps you would like to join me for some breakfast at the cafe? I mean if you are not busy..." He nervously shifted, awaiting a response.
"Well I am kinda hungry..." Vinnie said to himself. "Uh...sure buddy! Let's go!" He said, making his way out of his room, with Sunil right behind him.
Moments later they were outside, walking on the side walk.
"So...Vinnie!... What were you exactly doing up at this time?" Sunil asked him.
"Oh...right..." Vinnie began to say, deciding to tell him the truth. "Well I was trying to perfect this dance number I've been working on for weeks...but I just can't do it, Sunil! I've tried so much but I just couldn't do it!" He exclaimed, still frustrated at the thought.
Sunil looked at him with astonishment.
"Vinnie! You are seriously telling me that you are going to relinquish this dance number?!""I don't know what that means...but I am thinking of giving up..." He sadly said, kicking a nearby rock ahead.
"Actually Vinnie, they both mean the same-...oh never mind. The point is, you can't give up!" He said as he got ahold of his friend's shoulders.
"When has Vincent Terrio ever given up?" He looked straight in his eyes, awaiting a response."Well..." Vinnie began to say. "There was that one time when Russell tried to tutor me in math..."
"Vinnie that's not what I-"
"And also that time when we had that extra credit project for science class! I tried making that molecule thingy on the last day of vacation! I knew I shouldn't have spent my whole allowance on the supplies..."
"Vinnie are you even listening to-"
"Oh! And we can't forget the time when I tried reading that boring driving book! I still got my license anyways-"
"VINNIE!" The blue haired magician yelled out, finally getting his friend's attention.
"What? You don't have to yell! I'm right here!" Vinnie retorted.
Sunil sighed and began to speak once more. "Look, I know how much you've been rehearsing that number. Truly I do! But have you ever considered taking it at a slower pace?"
"Huh? I don't understand what you're trying to imply..." Vinnie was confused. Why would he take it slow? He's a dancer! Aren't they supposed to be quick on their feet?
"What I'm saying is, perhaps you should take your time in learning the steps. You know...it's like when I learn a new magic trick! I begin by perfecting the first step in order to proceed onto the next! I have noticed that your dance has a sort of..."twist" at the end am I right?"
"Well yeah..."
"Exactly! Perhaps I can offer my assistance to you, my friend!" Sunil suggested, hoping for an acceptance.
"Really? You'll help me practice?" Vinnie eagerly asked.
"Of course! All you really need is practice! And I shall face the challenge with you! So what do you say? Do you accept my request?" Sunil extended out his hand, waiting for a handshake.
However, instead of that, Vinnie went up to him and gave him a big hug.
"Sunil! You truly are the best friend a guy could ever ask for! What would I ever do without you?" He smiled, embracing him.
Sunil, startled by this sudden action, brightly smiled and returned the hug, slightly blushing at this rather confronting affection.
Finally, they released from the hug as Vinnie eagerly began to talk.
"Come on! I'm starving!" He said, motioning his friend to join him by his side.
Sunil chuckled and began walking with his best friend once more.
"Yep. We will surely go through this together!"
