"Okay! Now...what have we learned?"
"We learned about some weird traffic signals that we do with our hands..."
Vinnie Terrio was currently in a car, driving. Why you may ask? Well, he was actually in driving school, learning to drive in order to get his driver's permit! The instructor, Mr.Otto Von Fuzzlebutt, was currently in the passenger's seat, reviewing a couple of things with the young boy.
He chuckled. "Vinnie, I think you might be ready for the test!"
"Really?!" Vinnie excitedly squealed.
"Well I said MIGHT!...there's just one more thing to do!" They parked up in front of the DMV. They both got off the car.
"Ooh! I have to book my appointment thingy right?" Vinnie asked.
"Well yes...AND I need you to study everything you've learned from this!" Mr. VonFuzzlebutt handed him a tiny booklet. Vinnie glanced at the cover.
It was a driver's manual.
"Just take it as if you were studying for a school test!"
Ew...
"Oh! Uh...thanks sir! I'll get my license in no time!"
"Excellent! Well I must be off now, but I'll book your appointment and let you know!" Mr. Vonfuzzlebutt waved him goodbye and he headed back inside the DMV.
Vinnie took another look at the manual and frowned.
I seriously have to STUDY?
He groaned. The one thing he actually never did. Studying is just so boring! Not to mention tiring.
He stood at the corner of the DMV. Russell's dad, Jerry, was supposed to pick him up as soon as the class was over. As he waited for the senior, he began to look through the booklet. He recognized a few of the laws, symbols, lines, etc.
Seriously? This looks too easy!
He continued flipping through the pages until he got bored of it. He pulled out his phone instead, going into his Pokemon Go app.
"Honestly Vinnie! You play that game EVERYWHERE you go!"
"Huh?" Vinnie looked around, hearing a familiar thick Indian accent. His gaze fell onto a car. It was Jerry's. But he wasn't alone. The window from the backseat was open, revealing none other than Sunil Nevla.
"Sunil! What are YOU doing here?" Vinnie came up to the car.
"Um hello! We're here too ya know!" Minka piped up. Vinnie looked inside to also find Russell sitting by the other window and Minka, who was sitting in between the guys.
"Oh! Hey you two!"
"The front seat's yours, buddy." Russell chuckled.
"Sweet!" Vinnie got in the car.
"So you're actually going through this huh? Driving school. What a time to be alive..." Jerry chuckled as he started up the car.
"Yup! My instructor, Mr. VonFuzzlebutt said I could get my permit in no time!" Vinnie grinned.
"That's great my friend! I'm happy to hear that!" Sunil smiled.
"Wow! I'm impressed Vinnie!" Russell commented.
"Yeah! Just think, you'll be driving around Downtown City in NO time!"
Minka exclaimed."Gee, thanks guys!" Vinnie looked back at them and smiled.
"So Vinnie, what did you accomplish today hm?" Jerry asked. They were now on the road.
"Well...he taught me these weird hand signals for when I'm on the road! Do people actually use those?" Vinnie asked him.
"Well as a matter of fact, they do. And trust me, it's important to know them! Or you'll just get the other drivers furious! Who knows what could happen on the road? Road rage could start before your very eyes!"
"Daaaad...." Russell crossed his arms and glared at his father.
"I'm telling ya, Rusty! From past experience, I've encountered drivers who thought I was CRAZY when I did the hand signals! They were just crazy teenagers who probably passed the test by luck!" Jerry muttered.
"Wow! Have YOU ever been a part of road rage, Mr. Ferguson?" Vinnie excitedly asked.
Jerry chuckled.
"Boy, I've been through that MANY times! And trust me, it wasn't a fun experience! One time, my car was close to being egged by some stupid teenagers! And then there was another time where a bunch of ducks were blocking the road up ahead! And then there was a time-"
"Dad! I think we get it!" Russell called out.
"Wow! That's so awesome!!!" Vinnie exclaimed.
"What?! You saw DUCKS!? I've always wanted to see ducks in the middle of the road!" Minka giggled again, earning a sigh from Russell.
"Minka, it would be dangerous for the ducks to be in the middle of the road!"
"I know THAT silly! I just reaaallly want to see some cute little ducks being cute!" She explained.
"Of course YOU do..." Sunil chuckled.
"Anyways back to the hand signals..." Jerry stopped at a red light.
"Which hand signal means to stop?"
"Uh...I think it was this one!" Vinnie motioned his hand in the correct position, earning a nod from Jerry.
"What about the one for when you want to turn left?" Russell asked.
Vinnie did the correct motion for that one too.
"Oh! What about for turning right?" Sunil asked.
"Aw that's easy!" Vinnie did the hand signal for that one as well!
"I think you got this, kid!" Jerry smiled.
"Wait! WAIT! Vinnie you missed one!" Minka exclaimed.
"What? Minka there's only 3 hand signals!" Sunil retorted.
"Not anymore!" She giggled
"Vinnie! What does this one mean?" Minka lowered her head and raised her arms in a sneezing position. Vinnie realized what she was doing and he immediately began to crack up.
She basically dabbed.
"M-Minka! T-That's not a..." Russell couldn't contain in his laughter. He too began to laugh.
"Honestly, I would expect that from Pepper..." Sunil chuckled.
Jerry smiled as he watched the 4 teens who were now all laughing. Although he was surprised at how hard his own son was laughing. But hey, life is full of surprises.
___After having lunch over at the cafe, Jerry stopped his car in front of Vinnie's house.
"Hey thanks for the lift! And for the tips!" He said, thanking Jerry.
"Now don't forget any of it! You're gonna need to remember it for the test!" Jerry said.
"And don't forget to study!" Russell smirked as he said that. He knew how much his green haired friend hated studying. No studying= no license.
"Also, do not forget to try the practice tests online, my friend! I'm sure it will help you a lot!" Sunil pumped his fist.
"Oh! And don't forget the hand signals!" Minka exclaimed.
"Please let's not go back to THAT!" Russell slightly began to laugh.
"Thanks guys! I'll see you tomorrow!" He waved them goodbye as the car drove away.
He looked at the booklet again.
This will be a cinch!
