Be Alright

"What do you mean you're not going anymore?!"

Cheep Cheep perked up as he stood on the front porch to his cousin's house. Minka had agreed to walk to school with him.

"Yeah. Something really important came up, so I can't go." She merely shrugged, stepping down to meet him.

"B-But what about Mitzi? The whole double date facade?!" Cheep Cheep reminded. "Does THAT ring any bells?"

"The only bell that will ring is the school's if we don't get there soon!" Minka huffed as she grabbed her stuff, already walking ahead.

"Cousin, what's up with you lately?" Cheep Cheep quickly caught up with her. "It's not like you to cancel plans last minute. Especially since the formal is tomorrow!"

"Everything's super!" Minka sent him a grin. "And you know what else would be super? You understanding!"

Cheep Cheep sighed, then noticing the sweater she had on.

"Since when did you start wearing hoodies like these?" He asked.

"For your information, it's not mine." She smirked, "I borrowed it. It makes me look cute."

Cheep Cheep scoffed, "Sure..."

"Oh? Don't believe me?" She giggled, "why don't you ask Russell? He even said so himself!"

She happily hummed as she skipped ahead. Cheep Cheep paused as he watched his cousin happily skipping onward. He crossed his arms. Maybe he had something to do with Minka canceling their plans.

"Alright, darling. This is it!"

Zoe grinned as she and the other girls met up at Minka's house. It was now the afternoon of the formal, as all four gathered in Minka's bedroom. Pepper sat in a chair, as the other three stood in front of her, focused on their current task at hand. Pepper sat in the middle of the room.

"Alright. We have 2 and a half hours till the formal, so we need to work fast!" Zoe commanded, "Any suggestions, ladies?"

"Hmm..." Penny Ling circled Pepper, taking some mental notes. "First of all, what are you wearing?"

"Uh, I'm pretty sure I brought a dress over with me." Pepper shrugged as she pointed to her backpack. Minka reached for it, noticing a hanger sticking out. In one swift move, she pulled out the dress. A light purple dress with sequins around the center.

"Hmm, not bad..." Minka commented, "This can work..." She held out the dress, glancing between Pepper and the piece of clothing. Zoe and Penny Ling joined her, not saying anything for a moment.

"Uh...what are you doing?" Pepper raised a brow.

"We're just trying to make sure we're all on the same page here." Penny mumbled, her focus still on the dress.

"Lavender..." Minka pondered. "It's a nice color.." Ever since that one disastrous morning of not being able to paint anything, she hoped that she wouldn't mess this up for Pepper.

"Indeed." Zoe nodded. Finally, all three glanced at each other and smiled.

"I know what we need to do!" Zoe proudly stated. "Penny Ling, prepare the hair curler." She said, taking charge.

"Roger that!" Penny Ling grinned as she reached into her own bag, pulling out a hair curler.

"Wait...curler?" Pepper raised a brow.

"Minka, I need you to find the best shades of purple in here." Zoe pulled out a large box, opening it to reveal a variety of eye shadow colors.

"Okie dokie!" Minka saluted as she took the box, now sitting by her bed to check the assortment of colors.
