Sometimes, life decides to throw you a fastball, just to strike you out much quicker.

But what about a curveball?

Sure, those are much more unexpected, but they can still happen!

Or do they?...

I mean it's baseball, but nothing could be expected from baseball!

Minka sighed as she plopped onto her bed once more. The girl had been on her phone looking for answers, but nothing seemed to help.

Just this morning, she began to experience a strange feeling. Something she rarely felt. The girl had turned to her phone for answers, but all she got was drinking an excessive amount of coffee, which she knows she hasn't done recently.

"Ugh, why won't it go away?!" She groaned, her hands on her head.

The feeling was being obnoxious. She knew she wasn't mad at anyone, so the feeling of anger was definitely out. Nothing out of the ordinary has happened at school.

The girl sat up, wrapping her arms around her knees. Now that she thought about it, the feeling slowly began to develop after Olive left for her field trip. Actually, it was something she said that threw her off for a second...

"So, are you excited for your first actual field trip?!" The pink haired girl exclaimed as she and her newest friend, Olive were walking over to the line of buses by the gym.

"Actually yes! I've never been on an actual bus before.." Olive shrugged, "though, it's too bad you can't come with me.." The two sighed. The field trip was exclusive to the Science Club, something Minka encouraged Olive to be a part of.

"Yeah...but hey! There's nothing to worry about!" Minka smiled, "This will give you a chance to talk with some more people! Besides, Russell will be there too!"

The mention of the said best friend made Olive raise a brow. She quickly noticed the change in expression on Minka's face, as if it brightened up a bit more.

"Russell's a nice fellow." Olive nodded as they reached the bus, "are you two close?"

"Very! We've been friends for like the LONGEST time now!" Minka grinned, "I mean yeah, we're not exactly alike at all, but we're still friends! It kinda works out!"

"Just friends?" Olive asked again, "I thought you two were together."

Minka felt herself abruptly stop, her eyes widening at the comment. Outside of her circle of friends, no one else has ever made that comment.

"Wait, really?...What makes you say that?" She raised a brow, "I always thought my friends were joking about that!"

"Wait...you're joking, yes?" Now it was Olives turn to raise a brow, "You do realize how nervous he gets around you and stuff? I've only been here for a week and a half and even I've noticed."

Minka, now at a loss of words, put a hand under her chin, really thinking about it.

"Huh...I never really saw it that way..." She muttered, "I always thought he was just a shy person whenever he felt like it..."

Her thoughts were soon interrupted by the sound of the warning bell, both girls perking up.

"Well, I should get going then! Don't want to be late and stuff!" Minka sheepishly chuckled. They waved goodbye as the pink haired girl quickly walked away. Instead of her usual smile and wave, she gripped her bag, deep in thought once more.
