There's a sadness that I don't think I'll ever be able to shake
What our relationship will entail after the baby is born I won't be too sure of
During the dinner, she flashes her glimmering smile
Bats her eyelids in that flirtatious cocky style
Answers all their questions in a silky easy manner
After the dinner, mum whispers into my ear
"She's absolutely beautiful,"
I agree with her
She's showing now and I'm falling even more in love with her
She's carrying my beautiful dazzling pumpkin
All that love and affection is now growing in her womb
As I'm driving home I let the words that have been lodged in the back of my throat tumble out
"Just because we're having a baby doesn't mean you can't go to uni and on a girl's holiday," I say nervously, one hand on the steering wheel, the other on her belly
"I couldn't go on a girl's holiday even if I tried, I don't drink hard liqour" she chuckles placing her hand on top of mine
I smile
"You can still go to uni though," I say seriously
She doesn't answer and simply nods her head
I squeeze her belly gently
