Chapter 4 ☆

C H A P T E R 4 ☆

Dacian ☆

I placed gentle small kisses on her belly making her move a little in her sleep.

I'm so lucky to be where I'm at right now. Before I met Aubrey everything was going downhill and I was having crazy thoughts but it's like once I met her everything just went away. I prayed for a woman like her to be there for me and be able to put this hold on me. I now know the feeling of being in love and to have her carrying my baby is one of the best things I could ever ask for.

I placed my head against her belly and began speaking to the baby.

"I can't wait until you come out. I'm gonna spoil you rotten and you'll never have to worry about a thing. I'm gonna be the opposite of my father and I'm never going to abandon you ever." I said placing another kiss onto her belly.

I just closed my eyes and continued laying on her belly when I felt Aubrey's hand on my lower back.

"Talking to the baby already?" She asked. I could tell she had a smile on her face.

I nodded my head. "It's never too early to start talking to the baby." I told her wrapping my arms around her.

"Let me guess, you've been working hard for the baby so she or he will have everything." She said letting out a giggle.

"You know it. My baby's gonna have everything he wants." I stated making her shake her head.

I'm still convinced the baby is a boy. I don't care what she says.

"Yeah, but all the baby is ever gonna need is your love and attention. I don't want you overworking yourself." She said sternly.

I nodded my head and sighed.

"I know, let me just handle things. I'm gonna take care of us." I stated getting off of the bed.

"Where are you going?" She questioned me.

"To hop in the shower duh." I replied back to her.

I headed towards the bathroom connected to our room.

"I'll cook us some breakfast when I get out." I added before walking into the bathroom.

It only took me a second to turn on the shower and hop in.

About five minutes after getting in the shower the door opened and Aubrey climbed in.

"I got bored." She said making me laugh.

She wrapped her arms around my neck and began kissing me.

"You tryna get it started in the shower now aren't you?" I asked her with a grin on my face.

"Maybe, maybe not." She replied back.

I chuckled before picking her up completely. She had her legs wrapped around my waist.

It's on now....

"Oh my...I can't believe she would do that." Aubrey said as she talked on the phone with Maria.

I just rolled my eyes.

They have been on the phone for like two hours now and I'm getting irritated.

The only thing they talked about that actually interested me a little was the baby shower. Maria wants to help plan it which I'm kind of iffy about. I don't know how the baby shower is gonna turn out with her helping but I don't really have to worry about it that much. Aubrey does. 😊

I'm just watching Aubrey on the phone with Maria as I ate the breakfast I made both of us that she hasn't even touched.

"I'm so glad you're back in town. There's so much we're gonna have to do. I could show you around town or maybe Dacian and I could take you out to dinner." She said making me look at her with wide eyes.

I shook my head and began making signals for her to not include me.

Aubrey just sent me a smile making me groan.

"No, he's not gonna mind at all. He thinks of you as a friend." Aubrey lied making me shake my head.

"She's your friend not mine." I whispered before walking away.

My phone started ringing from the living room so I had to hurry up and get that.

"Hello?" I asked because I didn't look at the caller ID.

"Are you coming into work today?" Monica's voice ranged through my phone.

"How did you get my number?" I asked her through gritted teeth.

"I looked in your files and found it myself. Are you coming into work today?" She asked.

"No, don't call my phone ever again." I said hanging up the phone.

I sighed before sitting on my bed.

I have a bad feeling about this. Why would she go through the struggle of digging in my files to find my number when she could get in trouble?

My phone started ringing again and it was the same number.

I sighed before answering it.

"Didn't I tell you to stop calling my damn phone?" I asked in an angry voice.

"Mr. Whitfield, I don't think that's any kind of way to speak to your boss." Mr. Rodem spoke into the phone making me almost gasp in shock.

There was a long pause before I replied back to him.

"Ughhh, sorry about that boss, Someone was prank calling me." I lied shaking my head.

"Don't let it happen again. I came to call for a favor. I know it's your day off but we have an important client that needs to be interviewed and we have no one else for the job." He stated.

"I'll be there as soon as I can." I said without no questions asked.

"That's what I like to hear. I'll see you when you come in." He said before hanging up the phone.

I groaned before laying my head back on the bed.

I can't have a single day to relax at home with my wife.

"Baby, can you come with me to the store so we can look at some stuff for the baby's room?" Aubrey asked coming into the room.

I looked up at her and she already knew something was up.

"What's wrong?" She asked.

"I have to get back to work." I replied back to her.

She groaned. "You only get off days like once a week!" She snapped sitting on the bed.

"I know but I'll make it up to you, I promise." I said to her.

She crossed her arms over her chest.

"Whatever." She mumbled.

I pulled her into my arms.

"Don't be like that." I said kissing her cheek profusely.

She cracked a small smile.

"I'll be back later on tonight." I said giving her forehead one last kiss before getting up.

"Okay." I heard her mumble lowly.

She has to realize that I'm doing this for us and we have a son on the way. I can't slack off now.
