Mackenzie PoV

I was woken up when I felt someone stroking my hair. ''Jace?'' I said, softly.

''Hey Mack. Time to wake up now. We need to go to the main room. Clary remembered something about Magnus Bane'' he said. I nodded in response and he left my room. I got up from my bed, got dressed, went to the main room, sat down beside Alec and Hodge walked in, holding n iPad, showing us photos of Magnus.

''Magnus Bane. He's over 300 years old and yes. You can see he's not exactly shied away from pleasure of every century. His tastes are both exquisite and quite excessive'' Hodge explained.

''He looks like the downworld's David Guetta'' Clary said.

''Guetta's already a downworlder'' Izzy told her. ''Vampire? Ever seen him in daylight?''

''Can you 2 focus? This is not a joke'' ALec spoke up and I nodded in agreement.

''Someone needs to get slayed'' Izzy said.

''Alec's right'' Hodge looked at my parabatai. ''Magnus is one of the most powerful Warlock I've ever met. He has deep mistrust of Shadowhunters'' Hodge explained.

''Why did he help my mom remove my memories? Isn't she a Shadowhunter?'' Clary asked.

''Yes, one of the best. But 'help' might not be the best accurate word. Now did Magnus provide service for Jocelyn? Perhaps. But more than likely, your mother paid Magnus handsomely for his magic'' Hodge explained to Clary.

''Warlocks usually require payment before they help anyone with anything'' I spoke up.

''Word from the Clave, is that warlocks have gone into hiding since Valentine began hunting them'' Alec said.

''Valentine must be searching for the Warlock, where did Jocelyn-'' Hodge was cut off when rune burned his neck.

''Hodge, your rune. You ok?'' Clary asked and Hodge gave her an 'Ok' look. ''So how do we find Magnus?'' Clary asked.

''We don't. Magnus finds us. We set up a meeting, somewhere protected. Lure him out of hiding'' Jace said and Isabel grinned.

''I know exactly where we do it'' she said, pushing herself off the table, taking the iPad from Hodge and showed us a location.

''Downworld rave. Nice Izzy'' Hodge said.

''Where'd you get that?'' Alec asked his sister.

''During my surveillance at the Downworlders. From what I hear, Magnus likes to party''.

''He'll never go for it. Not with Valentine trying to kill him'' Alec said, not supporting his sister.

''Of course he will. He'll blend in. Hide in plain sight'' I looked at Alec.

''I don't know. It seems-'' Clary started but was interrupted by Izzy.

''Trust me. If Magnus goes out of hiding, he's going to one of the biggest party of the year''.

''Never underestimate Magnus' hedonism. Or his greed'' Hodge added. ''Come with me'' he told us. We all followed him to another room and he was drawing a rune on a tile, opening it and pulling out a necklace.

''Is it real?'' Izzy asked.

''A 4 karat, unheated Burmese Ruby. This necklace is special to Magnus as it was a gift from him to then lover, Camille Belcourt'' Hodge explained.

''What? Camille and Magnus were lovers?'' Clary asked.

''Warlocks gets around'' Jace said, making Clary smile and me, rolling my eyes.

''Magnus bought it in 1857, for the price of his London townhouse. Now, the jewel is enchanted by a spell that alerts the wearer, to the presence of demons'' Hodge said.

''It's so beautiful'' Izzy said, touching the necklace.

''Magnus has longed to reunite with his necklace. Offer it to him. He might just take the bait'' Hodge said.

''I'll send a message to arrange the meeting. We have to get to Magnus before Valentine does'' Jace said, walking away.
