Since I agreed to helping a kid named Yasuma Yuki, I've been exerting myself quiet heavily. Instead of my usual sit and do nothing as long as possible, I've been walking around with him and talking. Its come as a huge shock to my body. I'm definitely not used to wasting this much oxygen.
"Not going to the courtyard lately?" Hayato asked with a devilish grin placed casually on his face.
I looked up at his, shaking my head. "No, actually, I've been meeting up with a friend"
At least half the class gasped and demanded to know more. It was such a foreign concept to them that I'd have any friends, and to be honest, I was new to it too. "He's an underclassmen. You wouldn't know him" but on second thought, they might. "Yasuma Yuki"
Suddenly everyone was interested in my new friend. They begged to met him, to hear about him, ask if he was currently dating anyone. And with that last question, I knew that was my que. "Yeah, we're going out"
They stopped a while to take in my lie. All of them seemed relatively pissed. "What?" "How did you get him?" "Your a freaking liar" I just stared as they continued to ask these worthless questions. Then Yasuma was in the doorway with his hands together anxiously. They saw him and immediately surrounded the door. "Tell us it isn't true!"
"U-um... It is true. We're dating" he replied kindly. They pulled him closer to them and started touching him. "St-stop!"
"You can't be dating the slacker. t least let it be one of us!" They cried.
Yasuma pushed away from them and dodged into the room to run over by me. He quickly wrapped his arms around me and started shaking. It's funny how he doesn't want to look like a girl, but he acts like a little girl who chooses not to fight. Honestly, if he's going to act like a girl he should at least fake lessons from some powerful women. Being a girl doesn't mean your weak, for crying out loud.
"Shiro..." He whispered. "Can we go?"
I nodded and stood up. Yasuma stayed very close to my side as the other guys parted the way for us. I could feel Yasuma trembling in my arms as they stared him and I sighed. I knew his situation was bad, but I didn't think it was this bad.
We finally stopped when we got to the cafeteria. "I'm sorry" he said, sitting down across from me with his eyes focused of his shaking hands that he placed in his lap. "You always have to keep saving me"
"No problem" I lied. This whole thing was actually getting in the way of my relaxation, but I wouldn't tell him that. "Are you hungry?"
"I didn't bring anything"
"Well, we're in the cafeteria. Go and buy something"
He shook his head. "I don't have any money"
I frowned. "Why?" But maybe it was a bad question. Once I asked it he flinched and did his best to prevent years that still managed to find its way down his cheeks. "Did they take it?" He shook his head. I sighed. "Well, regardless, if you want to get stronger you need to eat. I'll pay for you, just tell me what you want" he asked me for a bowl of traditional ramen and I went to the front to quickly do that.
While I waiting in the line I reflected on my actions from just three days. Within those days I was actually walking around, talking to my classmates, got a friend (boyfriend), and now I'm sitting in a lunch line getting g someone else food with my own money. Talk about a turnaround.
I got up to the front, finally, and went about ordering. The women in charge looked horribly exhausted and pissed to her very core. Everything that came out if my mouth either offended her or just just made her mad. She continued to glare at me until I got the ramen from her. I took it and quickly went back to my seat where Yasuma was waiting patiently. He seemed really happy to receive food and dug into it like he hadn't eaten in days.
"Hey, Yasuma?" I started after he'd eaten a good amount of the ramen. He looked at me. "If we're going to pretend to date we should call each other by our first names, right?"
He slowly slurped a noodle. "Y-yeah" he looked down at his bowl.
I frowned. "What?"
"N-nothing" He held his hands out in defense. "It's just... I've never had a friend so close we called each other by our first names. No one has actually."
"Really?" I couldn't believe that. I mean, hell, I've had people call me by my first name. "And your parents They call you by your first name, rigbt?"
He jolted as I mentioned it. Quickly he shook his head. "N-no... I don't... My mom passed away when I was born and my dad left to marry an American woman"
I paused, allowing the information to sink in. "Then who do you live with?"
Again, he flinched. "My uncle... He's my dad's step brother"
"And he doesn't call you by your first name?"
He shook his head. "Can we talk about something else?" There was a smile on his face, but his eyes were glistening with tears. Whoever this uncle was he was just as bad as those students. Maybe even worse.
"So, the festival is in a few days" I wanted him to be happy. I couldn't stand to see him upset all the time. It just didn't fit him. He should be happy and laughing, just like he was at my house.
He smiled as I mentioned the festival, which in turn made me feel better. "I look forward to seeing the fireworks! It'll be the first time"
I laughed in pure shock. "You've never seen the fireworks?"
He shook his head. "Uncle never lets me do anything like that. I'm glad I can see them with you"
My heart felt like it was running a marathon with all its beating against me. I couldn't tell if it was because he was so freaking cute, or the fact that I'd just done more in this one sitting than I've done in years, why my heart was beating so fast. Whatever the reason, it had my lower region on standby also with just a little sensation. I'm no expert, but I'm fairly certain that this isn't good.
After lunch we went back to our classes, well, I walked with him to his classroom and then I walked to the courtyard to catch up on the sleep I lost.
A few minutes later I reawoke to find it was almost the end of school. Without much care, I grabbed my bag and trotted over to the shoe lockers to trade in my indoor shoes. As I yawned, walking down the path to the gate, I noticed Yasuma standing just outside the gate. He was shaking. And just as I was about to call out to him a man approached him. This man addressed Yasuma by his last name, and Yasuma called the man uncle.
Just by the look of pure fear in Yasuma's eyes and the lust in his uncle's, I had a bad feeling about their relationship. A super, bad, feeling.
