Chapter 8:
Very First Party
Saturday
'Goodbye Nadine, have a nice weekend.' I say cheerily. Grumpy Dumpy looks up, surprised, and glares at me. But no one can destroy my mood right now, I have a party to go to. I take my work clothes off and get dressed in no time. I take my stuff and walk out, whistling.
The past few days have been quite boring. I had to work everyday, but Tae would text me regularly to cheer me up.
Mario has been coming everyday, always asking me all kinds of things, trying to find out more about me. He still calls me Twinkling eyes because I haven't told him my name yet. I actually like his interest in me and I can't help the fluttering in my stomach and the small shot of adrenaline that goes trough me everytime he walks in.
He told me his full name is Mario Brian Lance and that he moved here from Bridgeport when he was fourteen, that's when his parents divorced and his father decided to come live in Starlight Shores. He visits his mother every Christmas and in the summer.
That's when I told him my parents were divorced too. But when he tried to dig deeper I had shut my mouth.
He also has a little halfsister who is ten. He's 24 years old and studies Fine Arts at SSU.
He was actually the most interesting part of my last days.
When I get home I receive a text from Tae:
Taxi picking you up in an hour! Do-not-cover-that-eye!!
I smile. She has been trying to convince me since yesterday to wear my hair in a way that my green eye shows. The party's location changed from their dorm to a disco on the other side of town because she and her roommates had invited too many people, that is why she called a taxi to pick me up, she knows I do not own a car.
I shower fast and walk over to my dresser. I pull out a black dress that Rico bought for me last year. This is the first time I wear it.
After I've dried and straightened my hair, I try it on. It's a lot more comfortable than it seems and I'm glad.
When I'm fully dressed, I look into the mirror.
I sigh. This dress is way too formal for a party. I turn around. This dress exposes a part of my back, but luckily my hair is long enough to cover most of it. My breasts are pretty exposed too...
I'm unsure and selfconcious, always wondering what people will call me next when I show up in 'revealing' clothes. That is why I mostly wore sweaters and long jeans in Aurora Skies, but also to keep more attention from coming to me.
But that was then, I firmly decide. I'm in a new place. A place where people actually like me for who I am and I am going to wear what ever I want! Excitement is boiling inside of me. This is party night and hell, I'm going to party like there is no tomorrow.
The doorbell rings a few minutes later, I grab my coat, purse and rush to the door. I open it and a middle-aged man looks at me, surprised ofcourse.
'Woah... Eh Uhm, taxi. For err... Kamira Casse?'
He is staring at me. This, I am used to, attention from older men..
'Yes.' I say, ignoring his stare. I walk past him and get in the cab. He follows me a few seconds later.
'So, where to?' He asks and I raise one eyebrow.
'Oh... Right, SuperNova disco.' He mumbles.
The rest of the drive is in silence. When we get there, I want to pay him but he doesn't accept it. 'It's already paid.' He says.
