Chapter 14:
Rockets Can Fly.
'Damn it, Cyla! Can't you cook a good meal for once!' James smashed his fist on the table, next to another warmed up, frozen meal.
'I could if I wasn't busy trying to work for the money we need to survive here!' Cyla yelled back. 'The money that you throw away with gambling every night. So, I suggest that, if you want a decent meal so badly, you cook yourself from now on!'
'Are you mad, Cyla?! Why would I do that! You are the woman in here.'
'Oh! Is that why I have to do everything for everyone here? While you just go and get drunk?'
'I don't want to be in this house! Can you blame me for spending my nights in bars?'
'Ofcourse I can!' She yelled.
'Come on, Kammie. We're going to play upstairs.' Rico whispered in his little sister's ear.
'But I'm not done eating.' The little girl protested.
'Shh, we can eat later. Come on now.' She sighed and got off her chair. Rico took her tiny hand and lead her up the stairs.
'Wait!' She stopped. 'Can Miss. Boobles come?'
Rico rolled his eyes at the name of the old, pink, stuffed rabbit his sister adores.
'Not tonight' he sighed.
She looked up at his face with pleading eyes. 'Please Rikkie!' She begged.
He was never going to win this. 'Alright. I will go get her, you wait here.'
He went back downstairs and grabbed the stuffed rabbit from a chair in the living room. His parents didn't even notice.
'You are a lazy, self-centered bitch, you know that?!' James' voice echoed through the house.
Rico quickly went up the stairs again and grabbed Kamira's hand. 'Miss Boobles!' She excitedly yelled. Rico handed the rabbit over and motioned that she had to be quiet.
'Whispering is okay, but no yelling.' He quietly said, and Kamira nodded.
'Come on.' He pulled her into his room and closed the door. He walked over to his 'playbox'. It contained all of his toys and Kamira clapped in her hands when she saw it. 'Can I play? Can I play?' Rico smiled tenderly at his sister. 'Ofcourse.'
She dug into the box and started picking out the stuff she liked.
Rico sat down in a chair and closed his eyes.
'Do you know where you can put that food of yours?!'
'James! Don't you even dare to finish that sentence!'
'Why on earth would I listen to you?!'
'Because I'm the goddamn mother of your children!'
'Yeah, look how that turned out!'
Rico shook his head. They never grew tired of fighting over the same things every night.
He heard Kamira giggling and turned his head.
'Mr. Sheep! You have a nice fur!' She exclaimed in a pitched tone.
'Thank you, Miss Horse. You also look good tonight!' She said, this time in a low voice.
Rico smiled and watched how Mr. Sheep and Miss. Horse went to a gala together.
