Chapter 13:
Snap
Tuesday
'I told you so!' Tae yells through the phone.
'Shh! Okay, okay. You were maybe a little right.' I respond.
'A little?' She scoffs and I grin. 'I can't believe that you two have been hiding this from me!'
'God, Tae. It's just been three days. And it's not like I am his girlfriend already.' I roll my eyes.
'Still' she growls.
I laugh. 'I have to go. We'll talk when I'm done with work.'
'Don't you hang up on me!' She yells.
'Calm down. I have to hurry.' I explain.
'We are having a good talk later you hear me.' She says.
'Of course.' I smile. 'See you later!'
She mumbles a goodbye right before I hang up and I hurry inside. When I have gotten ready I see a box of tea with a note on it:
Take this into the shop.
I grab it and rush into the shop, I'm greeted with an angry Nadine.
'You are late.' She grumbles.
'Yeah, well. I got held up.' I explain.
'I'm going to have to report this.' She states.
I stick out my tongue at her when she looks away.
'Wait, you are not supposed to have this shift? What are you doing here?' I ask suddenly when I put the box of tea on one of the top shelves and undo the plastic cover.
'I switched with Carla. She has some important stuff to do right now.' She says.
'What? So you switch with Carla while she does nothing but irritate the crap out of everyone, but you will not even give me a polite nod when I walk in?' I ask, annoyed.
She grins. 'You irritate me more than Carla ever has.'
'Good gracious, I have never even done anything to you.'
She shrugs. 'I guess it's just your personality then.'
I scoff. 'Was it really necessary to take this shift from her? It's almost the only day I don't have to spend working with you. Please, at least give me some time off your whining, awfully, big mouth.' It's said before I even realize.
She does not respond but goes back to her work and ignores me again.
I groan and get behind my counter. Three weeks, and that creature has only gotten worse. I sigh and realize that people have been staring at us. Smart to cause a scene in a public place. Only gets me more attention.
A guy walks up to me with his groceries and grins. I smile politely and just do my job.
'That was só good.' He whispers.
I look up, confused. 'Uh...'
'I have hated that girl since the first time I met her, she is in a few of my classes.' He explains.
'Er, okay.' I nod.
'You are truly awesome.' He winks flirty.
What is up with guys hitting on me in the supermarket? I sigh and just scan in his products.
'31 Simoleons, please.'
He gives me the money and hands me a paper too. 'Call me when you feel lonely. And keep the change.'
