"What's this all about, Harry?" Ron asked as Harry took out his invisibility cloak.

"Yeah. What's so important that you had to show us when it's an hour to bedtime?" Hermione added, following Harry's orders to get a lamp from the lamp stand. When she took the palm-sized lamp out, it expanded slowly to normal size.

"Magic mirror. It's the one I was supposed to show Kat and Ron yesterday if Snape didn't come," said Harry, unfolding the cloak and tossing it over all of them.

"Wow, this cloak is so big," commented Hermione in a whisper, holding up the lamp so they can make their way through the dark.

"Here. Right over there," whispered Harry, pointing to a corridor. They all nodded as they walked in that direction, towards the room he went to. He opened it, and just sighed as it was not locked. That differentiated it from other doors, since all doors are usually locked at night.

Once inside, Ron gently closed the door, and Harry threw off the cloak. Hermione set down the lamp, following him, Kataleen following and Ron last.

"See? I saw my parents! You'll see them too, I guess. Go, stand where I am," said Harry, beckoning them over.

"Uh, Ron, you go first," said Kataleen, ushering him forward, until he was beside Harry.

Harry stepped out of the way. "See? Can you see them?"

Ron widened his eyes. "W-Wow! I can't see your parents. I'm alone, but... but I look older and... I'm Head Boy!"

Hermione and Kataleen, mouth agape, widened their eyes, looking at each other, then back at Ron.

"I'm -- I'm holding the House Cup and the Quidditch Cup and... I'm Quidditch captain too!"

Kataleen's mouth was agape. Then Harry spoke up, "That's not right. Hermione, you try."

Ron stepped away and Hermione stood there. She widened her eyes. "Great Merlin! McGonagall's handing me my test papers and... all other professors are too and... I got a perfect score in all tests! And... and then, and, oh! Everybody's congratulating me, and, and they're giving me a gold medal! And then... Professor Dumbledore's giving us the House Cup and... and handing me a special gold plaque!"

Kataleen looked at the boys. Harry was frowning. "Last shot. You try it, Kat."

Hermione stepped away from the mirror, still smiling nostalgically. Kataleen looked into her reflection and saw herself, and soon saw the figure of a woman standing right behind her with a smile. Then beside her was her father. Then she saw the similarities. The woman's lips, familiar hair, glasses, and her glistening crystal blue eyes.

She smiled. "I see... my mother and father. We're together, in front of a 3-story house. And..."

She frowned as another figure appeared from behind. She widened her eyes, realising who it was. "Wha -- Well, I don't --"

"What Kataleen saw made sense. I saw my family, she saw hers," said Harry, tugging her by the sleeve to their group. "Don't know about you two."

Ron furrowed his eyebrows. "Harry, do you think this mirror shows the future?"

Kataleen glared daggers at him, yet turned her attention to Harry when he sighed. "How can it? Both my parents are dead."
