Kataleen
Last subject for the day done. Phew. Today certainly was eventful. As I walked to the common room alone since I went to the lavatory and the rest went ahead, I bumped into someone.
"Oh, sorry," the long-haired brunet boy, who was just as tall as my shoulders, said immediately.
I smiled. "Well, that's fine." I saw the colour of his tie, which was red and gold. "So you're on your way to the Gryffindor common room too?"
The boy who was already a couple of steps ahead was frozen, then turned his head to look at me. "Y-Yes. You... You seem to be a first year too, then?"
"Yes," I said with a smile, extending my free hand since the other was holding my books, tucked under my arm. "Kataleen Wilton."
The boy looked at it, then shakily shook it. "My name's Matrix. Matrix Pipswing."
"Well, nice to meet you," I said with a smile. It was still early, so meeting another Gryffindor wouldn't hurt. "So. Where are you from?"
He was wide-eyed in the surprised kinda way. "Huh? Oh. I'm from Wales, with my family. My parents are both Muggles, so you know."
"Both Muggles?" I asked, intrigued.
He nodded with a friendly smile. "We're called Muggle-borns. Someone from our line of ancestry had magic, and the gene just resurfaced in my DNA."
I nodded with a grin. "My parents were both wizards, though I don't know if there are Muggles on my ancestry line."
"Haven't you asked them?"
"Not really," I shrugged, beginning to walk towards the common room. "Matrix, is it?"
He nodded. "Y-Yup. Matrix. I don't think I see you around a lot."
"Me too," I shrugged. "I don't see you. But... I was one of the ones chewing gum during class and lost the house five points in Herbology, if you recall?"
"Oh," said Matrix, looking at the floor. "For me it seems pretty unfair that chewing gum gets us in trouble."
"Well, it's our fault, trusting a swindler," I said, rolling my eyes as I referred to Draco.
He looked at me, confused. "Swindler?"
"It's a pretty complicated thing," I said. "Anyway, how's life at Hogwarts?"
"Good enough," he said. "No one actually sees me fit to be a friend. And I'm just not that good at spells."
"You'll learn it soon," I said. "Being raised as a Muggle, I'm not good at spells, too. But a little bit of practice and guidance, it'll do."
"Yeah. And hey, at least I'm not good at spells, but I can very well care well for plants at Herbology," he said with a smile. "I guess I've got a green thumb."
I looked at him, and smiled. My friendly smile soon turned to a nostalgic one. "You remind me of someone."
"Someone?"
"I have a Muggle friend. He... He's pretty much like you. Shy at first, but nice when you get to know. And then he always sees the good side of everything, even himself," I said with a smile for the floor, then looked at Matrix. "His name's Morion. Morion Wisprock."
"Really? Well that's a coincidence," he grinned. "I know a Muggle named Morion Wisprock. We're classmates in badminton class. He's very nice, and also tells of his experiences with his other friends. In fact, I think I heard him say the name Kataleen before."
