Chanyeol scrolled through his Instagram feed, pausing every few seconds to look at a picture, as he took another few sips from his iced coffee. He swallowed them and set the half empty plastic cup back down on the table, glancing up for a second or so to see if they had arrived yet. He didn't want to be sitting outside wasting minutes waiting for them; he would have much rather been home relaxing like he should have been doing on a weekend. Foolishly, he let Chen and Sehun convince him to go out, but, of course, they were late meeting him at the cafe because they could never seem to show up on time to anything. This was a time when having Jongin around would have been nice because, unlike his other idiotic friends, he knew how to come when one of his friends needed him.
He sighed in annoyance and looked around for Chen's car again, shaking his head when he didn't see it. The tall senior turned his attention back to his cell phone and kept scrolling through the array of photos and videos that his friends posted. But when one caught his eye, one he nearly went past, he moved his thumb up on his touch screen, pausing it in place when he saw the photo and its caption.

"Can't believe this was taken almost a year ago...please come home soon Jongin :( 🙏"
Chanyeol sighed heavily, this time in melancholy, remembering the day he had Chen take that photo of him and his best friend. They were on their way to Spain for a Spanish class trip. He could still remember how much fun they had together, sneaking out of their hotel to go drinking and to meet girls at clubs. He chuckled to himself and smiled briefly and that was when he finally found himself relating to Baekhyun's current state of concern.
He knew well that there was a chance that the police would find Jongin's lifeless body and that honestly terrified him, the thought of losing his best friend. Chanyeol knew he never really acted like he was that important to him, but he really was and if anything bad ever happened to him, he wouldn't be able to live with himself.
His head shot up when he heard the roaring of Chen's engine, and he turned off his phone as he sat up straighter in his chair.
"Yo!" Chen exclaimed as he stepped out of his car. "Sup, bro? You're early."
"Uh, no, I'm not," Chanyeol replied, glancing down at his wristwatch. "I told you guys to be here at noon and it's fucking 1:30."
"Really?" Chen said, earning a serious and affirmative nod from Chanyeol. "Yah, Sehun! You told me he said two!"
"I thought he did!" Sehun whined guiltily. "I guess I just got the numbers confused."
"Yeah, I'll say," Chen said as he walked around the trunk, raising a hand to Sehun as if he was ready to smack him upside the head. "I'm really sorry, Chan. If SOMEONE wouldn't have fucked up the time, I wouldn't have spent half an hour in the shower."
"And performing a concert apparently," Sehun added as he and Chen walked over and joined Chanyeol at the table. "You should have heard him, hyung, he was hitting notes I didn't even know existed."
