Kyungsoo's hands were trembling in disquiet as he got dressed. He hadn't been this nervous to go to school since his first day of ninth grade. He didn't even know why he was feeling so on edge, at least he could find a valid reason to be. After all, it wasn't like he hadn't been there before or seen the faces of the people that attend the school. But there was something about returning to school after being a kidnap victim that made him uneasy.

Perhaps, it was because he knew what happened would bring him so much attention from people that would have never talked to him otherwise, attention that he didn't want. Maybe it was okay for Jongin because, well, he was popular and everyone knew his name, even it was for more infamous reasons. But for Kyungsoo, only a handful of people at his school knew of his existence, most of which only knew him because he was considered "the quiet one" or "the smart one." Attention was something that most people loved, but for Kyungsoo, it was something that he tried to avoid at all costs.

But he knew after he stepped through those school doors, it would become his new shadow.

With a shaky sigh, he finished zippering up his jeans. He walked over to the standing mirror propped up against his wall at a slight angle, tugging on the bottom hem of his top in order to pull it down. He wanted to look decent for his first day back at school. He walked away from the mirror and combed his hair once more, but before he could depart from his dresser to grab his backpack, his cell phone began ringing, the caller I.D telling him it was Jongin.

He smiled and picked up the phone, setting on speaker. "Hey, cutie," Jongin said cheekily, prompting Kyungsoo to roll his eyes and grin faintly. "Did you sleep well last night?"

"Yeah, I'd say so," Kyungsoo replied as he started to put his shoes on. "You?"

"Beds truly are a luxury we don't appreciate enough," he said in response, making Kyungsoo laugh."So, are you ready for school?" Jongin asked next.

"No," Kyungsoo groaned. "I just know that everyone will be treating us like we're a charity case or something and giving us all this unneeded attention. I'm seriously considering just quitting for the rest of the year."

"Ah, come on now," Jongin said. "It won't be that bad. So what if a few people stare at us? It won't be that horrible, will it?"

"Easy for you to say." Kyungsoo paused what he was doing and looked down at his phone as he spoke into it. "You're like the most popular kid in school."

"Yeah, but for all the wrong reasons," Jongin protested. "The only reason anyone knows me is because I liked to fuck people and then never call them again."

"Still, though," Kyungsoo whined as his lips formed a pout, plopping on the edge of his bed. "People generally like you, Jongin. They barely knew I existed until now and I liked it that way. Everything just seemed to run smoother and faster if no one knows I'm around."

"Yah, don't say shit like that to me, Do Kyungsoo," Jongin scolded. "I am still your boyfriend and I, for one, love knowing you're around."

Kyungsoo smiled faintly. "It's different for you, though," he said, pulling at a loose thread on his jeans for a second. "I actually want you to know I'm around, but not other people. I hate being the center of attention."

"Well, you if anyone bothers you too much let me know," Jongin said, causing the elder to let an embarrassed laugh. "I'll kick anyone's ass for you."

"How sweet of you. My knight in shining armor."

"Oh, I have to go now," Jongin said as he came back on the phone. "My dad is waiting outside for me."
