The discovery of the cell phone was a big break in the case for Hyukjae and Donghae for a couple of reasons. First, it confirmed all of his friends' alibis, which allowed them to confidently remove them as possible suspects, and second, it pinpointed the location he was taken, which would aid in the task of figuring out where he was taken. It took nearly two weeks for the DNA results to come back from the crime lab to confirm the phone was his, but when they did, they were more than pleasing to the detectives.

The phone, including the disheveled case and the broken screen, was laced with fingerprints, fingerprints that the scientists proved belonged to Kyungsoo. Once they found this out, the duo returned to the scene of the crime and this time, Hyukjae was the one to make a discovery. There were white, chalky lines on the sidewalk and, though they were faint, Hyukjae realized they led right to the very spot the phone was first found in as if the phone had been moved and left those marks behind, as a result. This led them to conclude that there must have been a little struggle, which confirmed their hypothesis that he was kidnapped.

However, while the new breaks in the case would give Mr. and Mrs. Kim more hope, there was nothing they could say to Jongin's dad because his son left his cell phone in the kitchen on the morning he stormed, which led them with very little on what happened to Jongin.

"Alright," Hyukjae said as he walked into Donghae's office from his own, "I called Kyungsoo's parents and they're on their way down right now."

"Good, thanks," Donghae said, glancing at him before going back to updating the case report. He finished and then saved the document, sighing as he sat back in his spinning chair. "I seriously don't know how we're going to find the other kid," he said as he made eye contact with Hyukjae. "We have no evidence of his whereabouts when he went missing and we have no proof he was kidnapped. All we have is a slight possibility that they were kidnapped together. But there's no way to confirm they were taken together."

"I know," Hyukjae said, exhaling as he sat down. "If it is true, we can assume they were taken by the same person, but the culprit must have had to plan this pretty thoroughly." Donghae hummed and nodded in agreement. There was a brief silence before Hyukjae spoke again. "I think we should keep running with that theory."

Donghae furrowed his eyebrows as he looked at his partner. "Yeah? What makes you think that?" he said, crossing his arms over his chest.

"They go to the same school and they seem to have some similar friends who were all at the same party that night," Hyukjae started, leaning forward and resting his arms on his thighs. "We know Kyungsoo left before Jongin because Jongin actually made it home. So, Kyunsgoo leaves first and is taken, followed by Jongin, who is taken after fighting with his dad and leaving his house."

"Okay, let's go with that. Why take them both? I mean, unless this person has some kind of personal grudge against them, why go through all the trouble to kidnap two teenagers?"

"More money would be my guess," Hyukjae replied. "Both of their families are well-off, and clearly very desperate to get their kids back." Donghae nodded his head again, his mind slowly beginning to put the story together. "I mean, if not that, where else could this Jongin kid be? His friends and his father all said he wasn't the type to run away despite his hardships and if he did, I guarantee he would have been back by now with the hangover he must have had after that party."

"True," Donghae said slowly as he nodded his head. "And the timing is too close to not be connected." He looked at Hyukjae. "I think you're right. From here on, we should look at this as if they were taken by the same person."

"Agreed. So, that means if we find Kyungsoo, we find Jongin. Two birds with one stone."

"RIght, so let's just find Kyungsoo. Should be easy enough," Donghae said sarcastically, making Hyukjae chuckle a little. There was a knock on the door not long after that.
