"Here we are!" Vincent said as he placed the car into park. You looked out the window and examined your home for the next few days. It was a small place, but it seemed to be taken care of pretty well. As you stepped out of the car, Vincent was already gathering your bags for you. He motioned for you to go ahead.
"I left the door unlocked. You should be able to go right in." He said smiling.
"Are you planning on carrying all my bags in?"
"Well, of course."
"I'm not a light packer you know. Those are pretty heavy to carry all at once." You said trying to grab at least the suit case. Vincent blocked your attempt.
"Don't underestimate me, darling. I can carry it with ease." He said lifting the final bag onto his shoulder. "But I will need you to open the door." You giggled and hurried to open the front door for him, not wanting to make him hold all that luggage for very long.
As you entered the house, you looked around to take it all in. The living room was arranged neatly, with a vase of fresh flowers sitting on the coffee table. Two lamps set on the sides of the couch, offering a nice ambiance. The kitchen looked barely used, which you had kind of expected. You looked down then hall where you assumed the bathroom and his bedroom were.
"I know it's not much, but it's home." Vincent said as he gently set your bags down. "The couch pulls out into a bed. I'll pull it out and fix it before you lay down for the night."
"Whaaat? You mean I don't get to sleep with you?" You said teasingly. Vincent's cheek darkened in hue, which you assumed meant he was blushing. His eyes were wide as he fumbled to come up with an answer.
"Uh- I mean- if you would- not that-" he cleared his throat. "I just figured you'd be more comfortable sleeping separately, at least for the first night. But if you wanted to be in my bed I wouldn't say no." He grinned slyly as he tried to casually lean on the wall. You giggled at his attempt at being nonchalant and made your way to the couch.
"It's a nice place Vin, thank you for letting me stay. I'm sorry you had to be my hero again."
"Y/n," Vincent said as he sat next to you on the couch. "You don't have to be sorry. It's not like I could stand by and let that ass treat you that way. I'm sorry I didn't get there sooner so you didn't have to put up with him."
You nodded in agreement, rubbing your hands over the places Seth had grabbed you. You looked over at Vincent who had a comforting smile on his face. That damn smile. Something about it was hypnotic. Everytime he smiled you felt even more connected to him. Suddenly it felt like the space between had grown smaller. Vincent's eyes traced over your face, pausing on your lips for a moment longer than the rest. Your heart was beating like a drum inside your chest.
As you almost gathered the nerve to close the gap, your stomach rumbled louder than your heartbeat. Your face became flushed with embarrassment as you pulled back.
"Sorry, I guess I haven't eat much of anything today." You said with an embarrassed laugh. He shook his head and laughed with you.
"How about I order some takeout for dinner? Do you drink?" Vincent asked as he pulled out his phone.
"Drink? Like, booze?"
"Wine?" He asked with his eyebrows raised and a sneaky smile.
"Wow, trying to get me wasted on the first night here?"
"Yes and no. I figured we could drink as a toast to... spending time together. And I figured you could use it after the last couple of days. But I'm not trying to do anything weird by it. It's why I asked first." He explained sincerely. Your heart warmed seeing how genuine he's been with you. You had forgotten how kind a partner could be. How they were supposed to be.
"Yes, I drink red wine." You said, giving Vincent a smile.
