You spent the next day gathering your bags to stay with Vincent. You were buzzing with excitement as you shoved clothes into your suitcase. You were zipping all over the place, trying to get it all ready before he came. He got off work at 6 a.m, but he said he needed a nap before he did anything. It was now 11 a.m.
You had told your parents that you'd be gone for a few days, but luckily they would be at work while Vincent was coming to get you. It's not like they were upset that you were leaving, but seeing that I was staying with a guy might rub them the wrong way. They are very traditional.
You heard your phone ping and you quickly picked it up.
Vincent: heyyy! I'm ready to come get you if you are.
You: yeah, I'll be ready by the time you get here. Here's my address
You send him the address and then finalize your luggage. It was finally hitting you that you were actually doing this. You sat down on your bed and took a deep breath. You heard your phone ping again.
Vincent: omw ;) I'm about an hour away
That was just enough time to get everything else you needed. After buzzing around and a few moments of second guessing yourself, there was a knock on the door. Wow, he got here pretty fast. You thought to yourself as you rushed to open the door. You swung the door open with a smile, only to be met with dread.
"Y/n." The coldness in his voice sent chills down your spine.
"Seth, you need to leave. Now." You said sternly, trying not to let your anxiety spill out. You knew your ex would come around, but you didn't think he'd show up this soon. His eye was swollen shut and his lip was still cracked.
"Y/n please. Hear me out."
"I don't want to hear what you have to say, now go."
"I can't stand seeing you with anyone else. Please y/n," he continued, disregarding everything you just said. You rolled your eyes and attempted to close the door on him, but he held it open. "That other girl meant nothing to me, you are my everything. I love you, come back to my place and-"
"Are you serious?" You yelled over him. "I don't want you, Seth. I'm over it. This is the same spiel you give every. Time. It means nothing! Get the fuck out of here before you get beat up again."
Seth's demeanor changed completely. "The fuck you mean 'again'? Did you already bring that bastard home?" You could feel the anger and jealousy radiating off of him.
"So what if I did? It doesn't concern you."
"You fucking SLUT!" Seth yelled as he grabbed you by the arms. Every brave bone in your body had suddenly disappeared. His hands gripped so tight that your muscles were screaming for a release. Before Seth could push you further into the house, a voice yelled from behind him.
"HEY!"
Everything had stopped for a moment. As Seth turned to see who had yelled, his hands quickly let go and were now above his head. You slowly set yourself on the ground, holding your arms to comfort the stinging pain.
"You have ten seconds to get the fuck out of here. I told you once that I would kill you, and I'm not going to give you this grace again." Vincent's voice was sharp. It didn't take long for Seth to take his leave, mumbling curses under his breath.
Vincent rushed to you and held your face softly in his hands. "Hey, he didn't hurt you did he?" His warm hands brought you back down to earth. Out of all the fights you've had with your ex, that was the hardest he had ever grabbed you. Without thinking, you pulled Vincent into a tight hug, thanking him repeatedly. If he hadn't got there in time, who knows what would've happened.
"I'm just glad you're ok. Let's get your bags and let's get out of here. Okay?" He said with a soft smile. A blush creeped onto your face when he smiled. You nodded and got up to grab your bags.
After the car was loaded, you both took off to his place without another word. Maybe Vincent knew that you needed silence after what happened. Or, maybe he just didn't know what to say. Either way you appreciated it. The stinging had subsided, but it was still replaying in your head. You looked over at Vincent, noticing the way the sunset illuminated his purple skin. He was
...very handsome.
"Don't stare too hard, your eyes might fall out." Vincent said teasingly.
"Oh! Sorry I didn't realize-" you began to stutter out an excuse.
"I'm playing. If I wasn't driving, I'd be staring at you too." Vincent said as he offered you his hand. Hesitantly, you placed your hand in his, and he placed a soft peck on the back, just like he did at the park. Except this time, he held onto your hand after. Your heart was pounding in your chest, but you felt comfort from it. Maybe staying with him wasn't a bad idea after all.
